Role overview


To function as a Pastry Commis 1 for Calo Qatar Central Production Unit. Support the pastry team by executing daily preparation tasks to meet Calo’s nutritional standards and product quality expectations. The successful candidate will bring consistency, precision, and strong hygiene practices in order to maintain and enhance customer satisfaction through efficient production and strict adherence to safety protocols.
 


Relationships and working expectations


  • Works under the guidance of Senior Pastry Chefs and CDPs in the Pastry Section
  • Works closely with Kitchen Management and Production Leads to support workflow efficiency and product consistency
  • Shift-based work in a temperature-controlled environment with mandatory PPE during all production operation times
 

Main Responsibilities


  • Assist in preparing pastry components and products according to standardized recipes
  • Execute pastry preparation with consistency and accuracy, maintaining high-quality standards
  • Ensure precise portioning, weighing, and measurement to align with Calo’s calories and macronutrient guidelines
  • Support the production of doughs, batters, fillings, creams, and garnishes
  • Maintain consistency in texture, appearance, and taste through careful mixing, proofing, baking, and finishing
  • Minimize waste through effective storage, labeling, rotation of ingredients, and yield optimization
  • Follow daily production plans and ensure timely delivery of pastry components to dispatch teams
  • Maintain routine due diligence checks adhering to HACCP standards along with sanitation and safety protocols

Ideal Candidate


Qualifications 


  • Proven experience as a Commis 2 or Commis 1   in high-volume, hotels or central kitchens ( 4 to 6 years experience)
  • Proficient with basic  health and safety ,Haccap standards (certification preferred) 

Knowledge and competency


  • Strong understanding of pastry techniques and baking fundamentals
  • Experience with dough handling, mixing, laminating, proofing, baking, and finishing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment
  • Strong English communication skills and ability to work well in a team
