Primary Purpose of the JobProvide managerial and technical leadership to the discipline engineering team, serving as the Discipline Technical Authority on behalf of the VP Directorate of QatarEnergy. Accountable for delivering design and engineering services across all stages of project development for VP-sponsored projects, as well as providing ad‑hoc technical support when required. Ensure the technical quality, integrity, and alignment of all engineering deliverables with project objectives related to safety, schedule, and cost. Oversee and develop the discipline’s technical competency framework, supporting progression from new graduate engineers to the highest-level Technical Authority.
Required Experience and Skills- Over 20 years of relevant post‑graduate experience, including 15 years in the Oil & Gas industry, with five years in proven leadership roles.
As the discipline competence pool manager, lead the development and administration of the technical authority allocation process to ensure consistent delivery of high‑quality technical services.
Hold accountability for approving and endorsing designs and technical deviations—through designated Technical Authorities—in alignment with established and approved standards.
Ensure the continuous development of competencies and technical skills within the discipline.
Oversee the planning and timely deployment of resources, coordinating closely with the Engineering Services Division to meet the needs of Project Managers, project teams, and end users.
Lead discipline-related studies and design activities, ensuring technical adequacy, compliance with standards, and the evaluation of alternative solutions that best address end‑user requirements.
Provide authoritative technical input into project execution strategies to ensure alignment with discipline-specific and overarching technical requirements.
Establish and sustain a comprehensive program that guarantees expert in‑house discipline engineering support throughout all project phases.
Serve as the owner of QatarEnergy’s discipline standards within the area of control, ensuring effective implementation of technical assurance and standardization processes, and providing oversight of engineering resources to maintain full compliance.
Additionally, hold accountability for the technical approval of discipline-related vendors for inclusion in the Preferred Vendor List (PVL) and for endorsing vendor deviations.
Ensure that all Instrumentation and Telecom technical elements across project scopes comply with approved codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Identify and define training and development needs for the discipline skill pool at all levels, including development pathways for Qatari Engineers.
Educational Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in discipline engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status or post graduate degree in relevant discipline.
