Job Purpose
The Instrument Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and control systems used in sewage and wastewater treatment plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous plant performance.
Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesInstall, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot field instruments such as flow meters, pressure transmitters, level sensors, temperature sensors, and analyzers.
Maintain and service online analyzers including pH, turbidity, chlorine, conductivity, DO, and ORP analyzers.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of instrumentation as per maintenance schedules.
Assist in loop checking, commissioning, and testing of instrumentation systems.
Work with PLC, SCADA, and control panels for signal checking and fault diagnosis.
Read and interpret P&IDs, control drawings, loop diagrams, and technical manuals.
Coordinate with electrical and mechanical teams during maintenance and shutdown activities.
Ensure instruments are maintained in compliance with OEM standards and plant safety procedures.
Record maintenance activities, calibration reports, and breakdown logs accurately.
Follow all HSE regulations, work permits, and safety procedures at site.
Support plant operations during emergencies or critical system failures.
Qualifications & ExperienceDiploma / ITI in Instrumentation, Electronics, or relevant technical discipline.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an Instrument Technician in sewage treatment plants, wastewater facilities, or similar process industries.
Hands-on experience with process instrumentation and analyzers used in water/wastewater treatment.
Knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems and control instrumentation.
Familiar with international standards and best practices for instrumentation maintenance.
Experience working in Qatar or GCC sewage treatment projects is preferred.
Skills & CompetenciesStrong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Good understanding of wastewater treatment processes.
Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.
Good communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
