1. Purpose of the Role

To ensure that project cost control and monitoring processes in SAP S/4HANA fully comply

with business requirements. These engineers will bridge the gap between estimation (Candy)

and SAP’s Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS), administer SAP project cost modules, and enable

accurate monitoring, billing, and reporting across all EPC projects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

a) CBS Development & Maintenance

o Translate Candy estimate files into SAP CBS structures for all projects.

o Align CBS with company Chart of Accounts and project WBS.

b) Project Cost Reporting

o Configure CBS to feed project statements with monthly, YTD, budget,

commitments, actuals, and variances.

Cost for Month, YTD, Budget, Commitment, Actual, Variance.”

c) Project Billing & Invoicing

o Map CBS to project invoicing cycles (advances, milestones, progress claims).

Advances / Milestones / Progress.”

d) Advance & Recovery Management

o Ensure CBS handles multiple advances and milestone-based recoveries.

Compliance Ref: Project Advances – “System must allow multiple advances /

milestone-based recoveries.”

e) Material Cost Tracking

o Integrate CBS with material movements to capture:

▪ Returned project-specific materials.

▪ Transfers of materials between projects.

o Returned Materials – “System must allow tracking of project-specific materials –

stock returned to project.”

o Materials Transfer – “System must allow transfer of materials from one project to

another – debit & credit between projects.”

f) Internal Billing Integration

o Ensure CBS includes cost allocations from internal service departments:

▪ Plant & Machinery billing.

▪ Scaffolding, site facilities, and other support services.

▪ Sub-project progress-based billing.

o P&M Billing – “End of the month P&M raises internal billing to projects.”

o Support Services Billing – “Support Services departments raise inter-department

billing.”

o Sub-Project Billing – “System must allow departments to raise sub-project billing

(progress-based).”

g) Revenue Recognition

o Align CBS with revenue recognition rules (progress/milestone/agreement-

based).

Skills

Qualifications

• MANDATORY - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.

• MANDATORY - 5–7 years’ project estimation experience is a must.

• MANDATORY - Previous SAP/ERP implementation experience in EPC is a must.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong background in Project Cost Control and Monitoring within EPC projects.

• Expertise in Candy Estimation Software and CBS structuring.

• Practical experience with SAP S/4HANA Project Systems & Costing modules.

• Knowledge of project billing, inter-departmental cost allocation, and revenue

recognition.

• Strong analytical and reporting skills (Excel, Power BI).

• Collaborative communication style to work with Estimation, Planning, Cost

Management, and IT.
