About the role:
We are looking for a well-versed finance professional to join our dynamic Finance team as Vice President Business Control & Financial Support, where your strategic insights, financial precision and leadership result in the continuous success of Qatar Airways Group.
We are seeking experts who drive innovation, foster collaboration and help to create a culture of excellence while shaping financial strategies. In this role as Vice President you will be responsible for supporting the financial management of airline Operations, including Ground Services, Technical and Flight Operations. You will lead a high-performing team in the delivery of value add for the business and insightful reporting and analysis for senior management up to GCEO level. The executive will head the development of the financial management strategy in line with the organizational goals, evaluating opportunities/risks and implementation of cost controls for the operations and overhead divisions.
They will lead a team of Senior Business Managers providing dynamic financial support to the business to ensure airline financial performance in line with the plan is achieved. They will also have responsibility for the development and implementation of sophisticated financial and compliance policies, procedures and initiatives throughout the business to drive improvement for the profit outlook.
Accountabilities:
Strategic
- Advise the CFO and other key members of the senior management on financial planning, budgeting, costs, cash flow, investment priorities and policy matters.
- Present an objective view of the airline's financial situation and provide critical evaluation and sound recommendations for the allocation of resources in the most efficient way to drive improved results.
- Contribute to the development of Qatar Airways Group goals by presenting an objective view of the airline’s financial situation and providing critical evaluation, information and sound recommendations for the allocation of resources to drive improved results.
- Responsible for development of strategic financial plans by providing management with all information necessary to measure financial performance that will assist and steer the business toward sustained profitability.
- Create a vision for the airline’s future that include evaluation of success by annually meeting with the Finance Leadership to drive Long Range Planning (LRP) activities of the Group such as strategy setting, emerging trends, identify and address gaps in process to ensure efficient operations.
Operational
- Provision of key reports and business evaluation to support business decisions and keep airline management focused on attaining their goals. Develop and provide monthly group performance finance reports to the regional finance teams. Providing ad hoc financial analysis and report to CFO and Senior Group Management as needed.
- Deliver Five Star (Accurate; Timely; Complete; Relevant and Cost effective) financial services to the business in line with the QR Values.
- Lead the assigned company’s strategic business drivers to determine investment allocation, creating comprehensive business cases for proposed projects, ascertaining investment cost and benefits scope, dependencies, risk and its alignment to Group objectives.
- Responsible for monitoring of monthly revenue/expenditure variance for all divisions on an on-going basis and ensuring that actual income and expenditure is on track. Lead investigations when variances are significant and taking necessary actions as required.
- Manage the co-ordination of annual audit and ensure that quality responses are provided for audit queries raised.
Business Support
- Upgrade and oversee implementation of an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, standards and procedures for Line Departments.
- Add value and insights by providing related KPIs reports and analysis comparisons for Business to optimise revenue and manage cost.
- Responsible for Group Consolidation and Financial Control of the Airline inclusive of planning, coordinating and executing the annual budget process.
- Provide analytical support to Group Management for any tender or business case for delivery.
- Improve the administrative and operational accounting systems and services to expedite efficiency and productivity by identifying processes’ gaps and implementing them with the support of the various stakeholders.

Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Bachelor`s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 10+ years of job-related experience.
- Professional qualified accountant is mandatory.
- Experience with both external audit and in-house financial management within complex, global and high growth organisations.
Preferred
- Airline experience is preferred.
- MBA in Business Administration or Higher Education Degree is preferred.
