Lead Operations Projects Officer

About the role:

 

Qatar Airways is pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join the Flight Operations team as a Lead Operations Project Officer to be based in Doha, Qatar.

 

As a Lead Operations Project Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring and executing departmental projects according to schedule and budget. You will be responsible for coordinating, supervising and participating in in business projects, while also acting as a liaison with IT project managers and other project stakeholders to ensure technical project plans aligns with the business project plan.

 

Specific responsibilities for the role include:

  • Maintain and update project paperwork as directed by Flight Ops Project Managers, revising plans as necessary to meet any agreed changes in requirements, and producing regular reports and dashboards as required.
  • In conjunction with Project managers and stakeholders, determine resource requirements (facilities, software, people etc.) in order to ensure the project is resourced appropriately.
  • Coordinate relevant project meetings, working groups, workshops etc., ensuring action points, follow ups and agreed actions are documented, included in weekly project tasks and communicated to all stakeholders and partners as necessary.
  • Monitor the health of projects against time, budget and quality criteria and ensure any risks or issues are promptly bought to the attention of the relevant project manager with suggested mitigation.
  • Assess changes in project scope, identify potential risks and devise contingency plans.
  • Gather information on available resources, work effort and constraints and use Microsoft project or other tools to construct timelines for new projects or new baseline timelines for existing projects.
  • Work with stakeholders and project teams to establish, and review on an on-going basis, project success criteria. Any changes, risks or issues to project success are then escalated to the working group to steering group such that appropriate action can be taken to deliver the project successfully.
  • Monitor project plans to establish upcoming project tasks and sub-tasks due to be carried out, ensure the resources are in place and any constraints to each task starting have been completed. Supervise the task owner or team to ensure the task is carried out correctly on the assigned date and the task objective is met.
  • On completion of a project, conduct interviews and surveys with project stakeholders and owners to establish the level of customer service and satisfaction with the project delivery and to measure the success for the project. Prepare lessons learned document to enable on-going performance of the projects team.

Qualifications

About you

 

The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Relevant Diploma/College or University qualification with a minimum of 5 years job-related experience.
  • Experience in a Project Management Office role or similar.
  • CAPM or other equivalent Project Management Qualifications will be highly desirable.
  • Microsoft Project, EPM and similar project software skills is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of flight operations and Network Operations functions.
  • Grasp of commercial impacts and financial/budgetary work.
  • Participation in projects or project type work is preferred.
  • Highly developed planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Advanced level of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Project skills.
  • Excellent English communication (written and spoken) and facilitation/presentation skills.
