Offshore Doctor

The offshore Doctor is the main provider of primary and emergency health care services to all crew members working on offshore platforms. They are responsible for all aspects of clinical medical management within the clinic, including medical evacuation, and support.


The position is rotational and operates on a rotation of 4 weeks on duty followed by 4 weeks off-duty (back home) rotation. For each rotation, economy flights, accommodation, meals coupled with all the necessary remote site insurances are provided.


Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Undertake clinical consultations and provide a high standard of service and care to patients attending the clinic.
  • Develop and ensure continuity of patient care and appropriate follow-up and referral.
  • Assist with the implementation of preventative medical care strategies, including structuring and performing medical screening services.
  • Manage the delivery of competent and professional health services according to the International SOS standards and NOC protocols.
  • Assist with ensuring appropriate patient triage and flow within the clinic.
  • Provide 24 hour non-emergency and emergency medical response to employees on site.
  • Escalates within the QP system for Medical Emergencies and liaises with the International SOS Assistance Centers for medical advice

Required Work Experience:

  • Must be fully licensed as a medical doctor in country of origin.
  • Be able to meet the Qatar licensing requirements which are stipulated below.
  • Minimum of 5 years' post grad experience is mandatory with some within a clinic/ER setting
  • Previous offshore experience highly desirable
  • Previous experience working within the Oil & Gas industry would benefit



Licensing Requirements:

  • Be in possession of original certificates of Primary and any post graduate qualifications
  • Transcripts of Records and Letter of attendance to be provided
  • Registered & Licensed to practice as a doctor in home country and any other country that you have worked in during the past 5 years.
  • Certificate of Good Standing - To be issued by the licensing and registration body of home country registration and other licensing authority in any country worked in the recent 5 years of employment.
  • Experience letters from current, recent and past employers for the past/previous 5 years will be required.
  • To take a Prometric Licensure Exam (which will be paid for by the Company)
  • To obtain a Police Clearance.


(All staff must have an International SOS Physical Fitness Exam conducted prior to mobilisation)
