Overview

The Preservation Instrument Engineer is responsible for the preservation of instrumentation equipment and systems during storage, transportation, and installation phases.

This role ensures that all instrumentation assets are maintained in optimal condition and are protected from environmental and operational impacts until commissioning.

The engineer will collaborate with various teams to establish preservation procedures, monitor compliance, and address any preservation-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement preservation procedures for instrumentation equipment based on project specifications, standards, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Inspect and monitor the condition of instrumentation during storage, transportation, and installation to ensure proper preservation measures are applied.
  • Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and construction teams to ensure preservation requirements are integrated into all phases of the project.
  • Maintain detailed records of preservation activities, including checklists, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide technical support and training to project teams on preservation best practices and procedures for instrumentation.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to verify compliance with preservation requirements and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Support commissioning teams by ensuring preserved instrumentation is ready for installation and operational testing.
  • Identify and address any preservation-related issues that may impact the quality, functionality, or safety of instrumentation systems.
  • Develop and maintain a preservation schedule, ensuring all activities are completed within project timelines.
  • Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to resolve any technical queries related to instrumentation preservation.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills

  • Certification in Instrumentation or Preservation Management is an advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and knowledge of preservation management software or tools.

Years Of Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in instrumentation preservation within the oil and gas or similar industry.

Technical Knowledge

  • Preservation Techniques: In-depth knowledge of preservation practices for instrumentation, including handling, storage, and maintenance to prevent corrosion, contamination, and degradation.
  • Instrumentation Standards: Familiarity with international standards and best practices for instrumentation preservation, such as NACE, API, and IEC standards.
