Lead Cargo Quality Assurance Officer

Qatar Airways (QR) have embarked on an exciting transformation journey to change how we interact with our customers. As part of this journey, we are now recruiting for the role of Lead Cargo Quality Assurance Officer. 

Based in ATL or Miami, you will be responsible for supporting the Business Continuity Plan activities to ensure it is properly implemented and maintained across all areas of the operation under QR Cargo accountability. You will conduct follow-up and close audits, track and laisse with auditees and relevant stakeholders to ensure suitable corrective action plans are put in place to deal with non-compliances.

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for ensuring cargo operations quality and standards are maintained at all times to meet safety, security and quality objectives.
  • Prepare internal departments and external stakeholders for audits and inspections.
  • Support Cargo Quality Assurance Manager to manage audit follow ups on audits and non-conformities/observations, track deadlines, provide frequent updates to management, manage the audit database and dashboards, and ensure adequate record keeping.
  • Plan, prepare and conduct audits, inspections and reviews of relevant departments and network.
  • Study, evaluate and assess standards of equipment operations, product process specifications and other related issues to ensure QA, safety or security standards associated with QR Cargo operations.
  • Research, study, evaluate and advise on all QA controls; provide recommendations for improvement of standards. 
  • Take appropriate decisions regarding the quality characteristics of products, processes, procedures and equipment to ensure the safety and security of the operation. 
  • Liase with QR staff and external stakeholders in a collaborative manner to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Report findings to management, if it is of safety concerns, do so immediately.
  • Explore and evaluate industry best practices in order to achieve higher operational standards.
  • Monitor procedural deficiencies and non-compliances in relation to QR Cargo operations.
  • Monitor effectiveness of implementation of corrective action plan.
  • Develop, monitor and track QA data and process improvements activities.
  • To support, business continuity plan activities to include the conduct of rehearsal, development of documents, reports and track status
  • Prepare frequent reports to management to ensure adequate oversight on performance and on the need for change and improvement.
  • Support in the review and development of procedure to ensure compliance with the applicable regulations, adequacy of current practices and safe operation.
  • Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of Dept. 

Qualifications

About You: The Ideal candidate will have the below: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with minimum 4 years of job-related experience.
  • Previous work experience in cargo and/or ground operations.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance programs and auditing.
  • Knowledge of safety management system.
  • Knowledge of security requirements associated with cargo/and or ground operations
  • Good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Stakeholder management skills.
  • Presentation skills
  • Quantitative ability 
  • Analytical skills 
  • Knowledge of auditing principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods
  • Knowledge in aircraft weight and balance
  • Previous work experience as loadmaster
  • Good Knowledge of IATA manuals relevant to cargo and ground operations

You must be legal tauthorization to work in the US, as this role does not offer visa sponsorship.
