Vice President Enterprise Data & Analytics

Qatar Airline - Qatar - Doha

The Vice President Enterprise Data & Analytics will drive Qatar Airways' data strategy, governance, and analytics initiatives. This position will oversee the enterprise data & analytics team, ensuring the effective collection, analysis, and utilization of data. The VP will play a pivotal role in providing business analytics to deliver sustainable profit by maximizing revenue and profit generation while minimizing costs and inefficiencies, including across all regions and subsidiaries, enhancing decision-making processes, improve operational efficiency, and optimize customer experience.

Key accountabilities:

Strategic - 

▪ Develop and implement a comprehensive enterprise data analytics strategy aligned with the Qatar Airways Group vision, strategy and business objectives.
▪ Oversee the formation of an Enterprise Data & Analytics team by leading a defined Steering Committee, and gradually onboarding different Data & Analytics units across the organization within the central Enterprise Data & Analytics.
▪ Define long term business objectives, in alignment with department Heads/Executives, and KPIs for monitoring Enterprise Data & Analytics strategy success and continuous improvement.
▪ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize analytics use cases, enabling generation of ROI for the company.
▪ Promote the use of predictive analytics to forecast trends and inform strategic planning.
▪ Continue the transformation of the organization into a Data Driven Culture through self-service analytics, training and communication
▪ Drive the adoption of modern data analytics tools and platforms.
▪ Co-lead, together with central governance team, the establishment and maintaining data governance policies, standards, and practices across all functions of the group with the support of data stewards within each business unit.
▪ Oversee the development and implementation of data management framework in alignment with overall engineering and architecture strategy.
▪ Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data analytics and integrate relevant advancements into the airline’s analytics capabilities.

Operational - 

▪ Oversee the design and development of effective dashboards to stakeholders
▪ Lead data transformation into actionable insights to support business growth and operational efficiency.
▪ Ensure data availability, quality and integrity across all data assets.
▪ Foster the implementation of advanced analytics, machine learning models, and business intelligence solutions driving the business from descriptive analytics towards prescriptive analytics.
▪ Support IT in delivering a scalable and efficient data architecture to support analytics initiatives.
▪ Present findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
▪ Manage business intelligence projects across the business relating to the delivery sustainable profit.

Qualifications

Job specific competencies required:
▪ Leadership and Strategic thinking.
▪ Project Management skills: manage Data & Analytics projects from inception to end and balance multiple projects simultaneously meeting deadlines.
▪ Change Management: drive organizational change by promoting data driven decisions and adapt to new business situation.
▪ Business Acumen: 360 degree understanding of the airline business and how data can drive value for the business. Translate insights into actionable business recommendations.
▪ Team Building and Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build a high performing D&A team and Successfully Collaborate with key stakeholders 
▪ Strong Problem-Solving skills and ability to present complicated data & analytics concepts to non-data & analytics individuals.
▪ Excellent communication and presentation skills: Effectively communicate complex data. Influence decision making through clear Executive Presentations.
▪ Expertise in data management, data governance and data quality best practices.
▪ Understanding data analytics platforms such as SAS, R, Python, machine learning, Tableau, Power BI, and big data technologies.
▪ Understanding of cloud-based solutions and architectures (e.g. Azure, GCP)
▪ Managerial skills: Ability to delegate, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinates and ability to foster teamwork 

Academics:

Essential
▪ Bachelor Degree with a minimum 10 years' professional experience in the fields of Data & Analytics, Aviation Management, Travel & Tourism, Business Administration, Engineering, Physics, Finance or any other relevant field with substantial exposure to quantitative analysis.

Preferred
▪ MBA or Master’s Degree.
▪ Project Management Qualifications.
▪ Experience in leading large Data & Analytics team.
▪ Experience in a Management role within Airline Industry.
▪ Experience in multi country responsibility and team leadership.
