About The Provost Office

The Provost Office in HBKU is mainly responsible for planning and implementing academic priorities across the university including curricular, student enrollment, admissions, and faculty. The Office also works

closely with the academic colleges and the faculty to provide the highest possible quality educational programs, both within and outside the classroom. It fosters the success of faculty across the university to ensure retention of our outstanding and diverse faculty body and support excellence in their missions of teaching, scholarship and service.

Position

To lead and manage undergraduate and graduate recruitment, admissions and testing in line with the overall HBKU strategy and plan to become a world-class research university by managing the entire process from generating prospective student interest in the university to matriculation.

Job Role Description

  • Contribute to long-range academic program and enrollment planning and strategies at the University level.
  • Provide periodic reports on national and regional post-secondary demographic and graduate trends to help identify pools of potential, qualified students.
  • Develop strategies and implement plans to promote HBKU programs to the wider Qatari community and recruit qualified Qatari and Non-Qatari students.
  • Recommend programs to prepare Qatari students at the secondary and tertiary levels to qualify for HBKU programs.
  • Drive the implementation of long-term student enrollment strategies, beginning with identifying high-achieving students and continuing the process through up until enrollment.
  • Monitor the admissions process for all undergraduate and graduate programs. Gather and provide analysis on relevant data throughout the recruitment and admission processes, resulting in greater selectivity and higher yields across all colleges and programs.
  • Manage the conditional admission process.
  • Ensure the completeness of all candidate files prior to matriculation.
  • Provide data-driven ideas and proposals to university leadership to improve enrollment targets, including analyses of why students enroll/do not enroll at HBKU.
  • Oversee testing programs and develop and maintain relationships with external test providers to leverage EC and HBKU enrollment.
  • Manage and coordinate the attendance of exhibitions, Higher Ed Fairs and open house information sessions.
  • Manage student recruitment and testing budget; forecast and spending; and make adjustments when necessary.
  • Oversee the process of grade conversion for eligible candidates.
  • Collaborate with the colleges on the launch of new programs.
  • Collaborate with HBKU Communications team to develop marketing materials, such as brochures and prospectuses, and enhance student recruitment through focused initiatives.
  • Lead the development of website content and other digital material.
  • Contribute to Qatarization and talent development by fostering capabilities within the Student Enrollment division, transferring knowledge, and mentoring and motivating others to achieve excellence.
  • Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree (preferred) from an accredited university in education or a related discipline.
  • 8- 10 years of relevant full-time work experience, preferably in an education institution.
  • Experience in the U.S. higher education system, including admissions.
  • Knowledge of various student admission, recruitment, outreach and testing strategies, plans and frameworks in the context of the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East.
  • Commitment and enthusiasm for HBKU’s vision and objectives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to logically and persuasively outline and present thoughts, ideas and specifications through oral and written communications and in writing.
  • Excellent conceptual and strategic thinking and ability to articulate.
  • Ability to collaboratively lead and manage in diverse groups, cultures, and communities.
  • Good analytical and critical thinking with the ability to analyze data in a logical manner and apply problem-solving techniques to produce clear conclusions and recommendations.
  • Quality-focused ability to use quality management methods, tools and techniques to create and support an environment that meets the needs of the organization.
  • Computer proficiency/skills.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
