Rheinmetall Barzan Advanced Technologies (RBAT) is in search of a Systems Development Engineer with expertise in the Defense Industry. The role entails carrying out systems development life cycle processes to successfully deliver military projects in Doha, Qatar. You will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including development engineers from various fields under the Technology Department, to meet these role expectations.
This role focuses on the development of military systems, playing a crucial part in the ever-evolving landscape of defense technology innovation. Our goal is to provide comprehensive solutions that align with our customers' mission-critical needs. The position involves a systematic and disciplined approach to system design, specification, implementation, and ongoing development support.
Responsibilities
Systems Development (Military Systems)
- Work with solution architects, customers, and end-users to achieve an in-depth understanding of the client’s and system needs.
- Work hands-on to deliver new capabilities across the lifecycle of the product, from initial release and onboarding, through day-to-day improvements.
- Interlink customer need, development teams, available capabilities, and market trends to design and simplify the accomplishment of a successful system.
- Develop and define technical solutions based best systems engineering practices.
- Oversee the development of customized software and hardware requirements.
- Work closely with software and hardware engineers, help software deployments and integration, fault isolation, discrepancy assessment and fixing.
- Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
- Proactively communicate goals to stakeholders and manage expectations of delivery from systems engineering perspective.
- Facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical team members, bridging the gap between client expectations and technical implementation.
- Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
- Support all the project execution phases, including development, documentation, integration, tests, and system final installation.
- Stay up to date with defense industry best practices and emerging trends in systems engineering.
- Continuously scan defense market trends and military technologies.
System Requirements Specifications (SRS)
- Translate the voice of the customer and complex technical concepts into clear and unambiguous Systems Requirements Specifications (SRS) that serve as the foundation for system development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze project requirements, including functional, non-functional, systems safety and technical aspects.
- Define requirements at the system level and develop system specifications.
- Develop the subsystems specifications and technical requirements in compliance with the systems engineering processes.
- Create and maintain detailed specification documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and traceability of requirements throughout the system development lifecycle.
- Identify and manage the changes to system/subsystem requirements, ensuring proper documentation and impact assessment.
- Maintain system/subsystem requirements via requirements management tools.
System Design
- Conduct system analysis and design conceptual models.
- Perform feasibility assessment, evaluate trade-offs, and design alternatives.
- Develop comprehensive system architectural descriptions that encompass the entirety of system components, interactions, interfaces, and interdependencies.
- Generate and sustain system architecture diagrams, including high-level and detailed architectural behavioral and physical views.
- Document system design decisions, rationale, and limitations.
- Engage in architectural reviews and contribute recommendations for enhancing and optimizing the system's architecture.
- Collaborate with development teams to translate architectural descriptions into actionable development tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering field.
- Defence Industry experience is must.
- Proven experience (8+ years) in Systems Engineering or the similar role within Defense Domain.
- Expertise in systems engineering standards, principles, applications, practices, and life cycle processes.
- Proficiency in System/Subsystem requirements specification, design, development, integration, and validation.
- Participated in large-scale defense projects.
- Specialized in military solutions, applications, doctrines, and CONOPS.
- Possess Command and Control, C4ISTAR, Unmanned Combat Systems, and air defense domain knowledge.
- Possess general knowledge of military products, weapon systems, infrared/optical systems, RADARs, RF Receivers, Command Posts.
- Experience in JIRA and requirement management tools (i.e., DOORS, R4J).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
