About the Role
An exciting opportunity to join the Qatar Airways Group Medical Department as Manager Pharmacy Operations. The role, will be responsible for operations of department of pharmacy – managing staff, optimizing processes, maintaining compliance with regulations and improving patient experience as below.
Your duties would include:
- Obtaining & maintaining the license required for the operation of pharmaceutical establishments and aircraft medical kits at all QR medical identified locations.
- Managing the operation of any outsourced external service provider to ensure excellent pharmaceutical practice and compliance with Pharmacy and Drug Control regulations and Company policies. You will be responsible to plan and manage the inventory of material and medical supplies and equipment to optimize clinic operation and aircraft medical kit production.
- Reviewing company pharmaceuticals expenditures whenever required, advise and develop strategies to increase revenue, reduce costs and maintain quality
- Assessing the market trends and competitors to identify a selling possibility, evaluate customer needs and successful strategy to increase revenue.
- Working with projects team to establish the dashboard, manage the delivery of pharmacy and Supply Chain team members to deliver strategy projects correctly and on-time
- Analysis of company expenditure on pharmaceutical, medical supplies and equipment to develop cost saving strategies/opportunities that will reduce costs without compromising quality or affect operation.
- Analysis of Aircraft medical kits to enhance the quality of in-flight medical care, increase the accessibility of operating crew and medical personnel to the kit contents and reduce the operational costs.
- Review existing pharmaceuticals contracts/agreements with external suppliers for potential cost saving and support The Medical Centre as a subject matter expert to negotiate new contracts/agreements.
- Introduce a new line of products and innovation to increase pharmacy revenue, take the dispensary services to all QR employees and increase customer satisfaction. Set the department Key Performance Indicators, Manage and coach the teams to deliver complex engagements.
- Oversee pharmacy, aircraft medical kit and supply chain daily business operation, monitor monthly productivity and revenue at all locations.
- Work closely with the medical operations leads to achieve department objectivize and key performance indicators within the timelines set by the management.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to identify, plan and maintain the resources required for the smooth running of the clinic operation while expanding into a multiple location.
- Identify and evaluate strategic deals and partnerships with suppliers and stakeholders that drive the department strategy forward.
- Work closely with QR Procurement and Group Medical Division Procurement Committee to review all procurement requests to take a cost-effective decision according to QR Policies.
- Direct contact with Pharmacy and Drug Control Director and PDCD different departments managers to ensure below,
- Responsible to Pharmacy and Drug Control for staff compliance of Psychoactive and narcotic substances handling procedures on ground and on-board aircraft with Qatar Law
- Responsible for importing, transporting, dispensing and for keeping an accurate record of all pharmaceuticals as well as Psychotropic and Narcotic substances journals and accountable for any discrepancies arises during MOPH or MOI inspections/investigations
- Responsible for acquiring EMK license/official permission to be packed in Qatar/in-house through developing QR medical kits proposal of the handling procedures to Pharmacy and Drug Control Director.
- Ensure the proposed handling procedures of controlled medications comply Qatar Law PDCD.
- Accountable to plan and manage medical kits pharmaceuticals supply locally and internationally, storage, packing, replenishing, transport, and all required documentation accordingly.
- Work with Procurement, Supply Chain, Cabin Services and Flight Operation to review aircraft medical kits agreement with external suppliers and enhance the operation and contents according to QCAR, IATA and EASA standards.
- Work closely with QR legal, Facility, Finance, IT, Procurement, Security departments and The Ministry of Public Health in Qatar to manage acquiring the license for pharmaceutical establishment at multiple locations.
Qualifications
We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional to join our Group Medical team. The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 8 years of job-related experience
- Management degree or equivalent in healthcare would be a plus.
- Valid Pharmacist License to practice in Qatar
- Licensed by Pharmacy and Drug Control to own, acquire, purchase, sale, transfer, deliver and import Controlled Drugs preferred.
- Knowledge of supply chain management and experience working with Supply Chain Management systems are required.
- Knowledge of Pharmacy licensing process, in GCC as per applicable laws and The Ministry of Public Health regulation for pharmacy profession and NDDPS is mandatory.
- Valid Pharmacist License to Practice in Qatar will be an advantage
- Experience working with Pharmaceutical/Aviation industry is preferred.
- Experience in importing pharmaceuticals and Controlled Drugs in Qatar/GCC is preferred.
- Should have experience in leading a team for 3 years or more
- Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Should be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills is required
- Ability to foster teamwork among team members, help cultivate healthy and respectful work environment
- Able to effectively handle difficult conversations and resolve conflict is required.
