We are excited to announce that we are currently seeking a Regional Manager for Cargo Compliance based in Atlanta, Georgia. The role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safety, security and operational compliance with regulatory and company standards for staff, stakeholders and suppliers. The manager will continuously assess and improve hazard identification and adherence to IATA regulations and Qatar Airways procedures, promoting a positive safety, security and quality culture while identifying opportunities for improvement in these areas.
This person will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring staff, stakeholders and suppliers on safety, security, dangerous goods, operational matters, and compliance with Qatar Airways (QR) and regulatory requirements.
As a Regional Manager Cargo Compliance , you will be responsible for the below:
- Drive quality assurance and improvements in the region in line with guidelines defined by Cargo HQ Operations management regarding compliance with regulations, standards, and company procedures associated with cargo and ground and handling operations, including dangerous goods, security, and safety.
- Implement new strategies with Cargo Operations HQ to improve the safety and quality culture continuously.
- Regional responsibility for facilitating quality assurance, safety, security, dangerous goods and compliance matters in the region with an emphasis on safe and secure operations in compliance with QR policies and service levels, industry best practices, IATA standards and regulatory requirements.
- In conjunction with the regional and HQ leadership, oversee and assist new station operations start-ups/resumption and ensure the station adheres to local and QR safety and security standards for safe operations.
- Monitor the region's cargo and ground handling operation continuously through audits, self-inspection, safety performance indicators, and other compliance reports and recommend improvements.
- Liaise with all regional leaders and staff in the region and the HQ to ensure constant dialogue on compliance challenges and opportunities with cargo operations.
- Develop, review, approve, and implement local operating procedures (LOPs) as required, in compliance with Cargo HQ's policies and procedures, to ensure smooth and safe cargo operations compliance in the region.
- Conduct occurrence investigations and risk assessments, provide advice, and facilitate risk-based decisions to ensure safe and compliant operations.
- Perform station assessments according to agreed requirements and as necessitated by events in the region or network. Assessments will include reviews of ground handlers, internal staff, and process assessments. Identification of common findings and implementation of standard practices across the region, along with network recommendations as required.
- Identify hazards in cargo operations. Establish and manage risk assessments using the operational management approach of stations and regions. Ensure consistent assessment of risks and continued mitigation to improve.
- Oversee the effective implementation of emergency response procedures in the region by conducting exercises in liaison with the cargo headquarters, ensuring that areas of improvement are adequately addressed.
- Conduct regular meetings with internal and external parties addressing safety, security, quality assurance, dangerous good and compliance matters to ensure raising in awareness on key issues and fostering actions for improvement of current standards.
- In coordination with the cargo training administration team, conduct training reviews for external parties to ensure they comply with QR cargo training requirements and report any non-compliance.
- Provide management with performance reports that cover trends, issues, and escalations needed to track safety, security, quality assurance, dangerous goods, and compliance matters in the region.
- Perform other dept. duties related to their position as directed by the Head of Dept. or as agreed with the local VP.
Qualifications
An ideal candidate will have the below:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum 6 years of job-related experience.
