About the role 

This is an exciting and new role as specialty-based nursing managers within the Qatar Airways Medical Division.  As lead specialty nurses, you will be responsible for the clinical, professional and operational leadership for nurses within the team and area of responsibility.  

We are currently recruiting for the service areas of Primary Care and Aeromedical Services which are provided across a range of facilities based in Doha Qatar.  The medical division currently provides the above services to Qatar Airways employees and has future plans to expand services & open new facilities with the aim of becoming the provider of choice for all Qatar Airways employees.

 With this in mind we are looking for an experienced nurse leader who not only can lead and manage their nursing teams but who are committed to ensuring patients receive compassionate care by meeting safety, quality and professional standards highlighted in the nursing regulations and scope of practice of the State of Qatar and who has the enthusiasm and energy to develop new services for the future.

Key Accountabilities 

  • Responsible for the clinical nursing leadership for a defined group of services that includes organizing, developing and delivering cost-effective care to QR employees
  • Provide expert advice to the line manager on professional and specialist nursing matters for area of responsibility
  • Develop and lead on patient engagement within area of responsibility in collaboration with key clinical leads and improving the patients experience
  • Support the line manager and executive team in implementing strategic plans, managing performance through key objectives
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication within area of responsibility and within nursing teams, acting as a role model for clinical leadership, clinical engagement and patient advocacy.
  • Ensure appropriate skill mix, deployment and utilization of specialty workforce that is consistent with national, regulatory and good practice requirements to maximize quality, safety and effective use of resources
  • Provide clinical leadership and participate in direct patient care providing clinical expertise in emergency and incident management, as well as front line services by maintaining clinical practice hours sufficient to maintain registration (1 day per week) 
  • Provide visible professional leadership acting as a role model for the specialty area ensuring the patient remains the key focus of care
  • Responsible for developing a transparent and collaborative communication strategy and structure for the nursing teams ensuring regular monthly updates and communication briefs to teams.
  • Enable, motivate & empower nursing teams to demonstrate personal & professional leadership at all levels, act to challenge approaches which fall short of national guidance, best practice and professional standards
  • Responsible for ensuring that clinical facilities meet all of the MOPH, Fire and Safety and IPC standards, in collaboration with IPC and other QR professionals ensuring regular patient safety walks are conducted and that actions and issues are resolved.
  • Provide leadership in the development and engagement of nursing teams in the clinical governance agenda working with the clinical governance team to provide support and training for areas such as clinical risk management, clinical audit, staff and patient engagement and staff education and training.
  • Responsible for ensuring that nurses within the team administer and oversee the administration of medications and therapies in a safe, timely and effective manner in line with their scope of practice, MOPH guidelines and pharmaceutical advice.

Qualifications

About you 

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential

  • Advanced Diploma in Nursing and/or Midwifery (minimum 3/4 years duration) or Bachelor of Science (or similar) in General Nursing/Midwifery/Mental Health/Pediatric Nursing
  • Minimum of 6+ Years’ experience in a clinical leadership level commensurate with the role outlined in the job description
  • Valid nursing license in country of origin and eligibility for license with the DHP in the State of Qatar

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in Healthcare Related Field/Leadership/Management (MBA)
  • Post Graduate/Diploma Qualification in an appropriate nursing related subject i.e., leadership, management, advanced nursing practice in appropriate nursing area/specialty
  • Certification of nursing specialty (aviation nursing, primary care, emergency care, occupational health)
  • Experience and/or knowledge of working within the aviation industry
  • Experience and/or knowledge of working within Aeromedical/Flight Escort Nursing, Primary Care, Occupational Health Nursing or Emergency care nursing.

Job Specific Skills:

  1. Knowledge of legislative, regulatory & policy guidance relevant to the nursing and midwifery practice
  2. Knowledge of clinical nursing practice in healthcare environment i.e. hospital/large primary care organization/occupational health or lifestyle and performance
  3. Ability to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team
  4. Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
  5. Ability to provide transformational leadership to the area of responsibility/team of nurses
  6. Command of English language.
