The Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting activities across the Company’s various projects. The role ensures that project programmes are properly developed, maintained, and monitored and that potential delays, risks, and schedule impacts are identified and reported in a timely manner. The Planning Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, consultants, contractors, and senior management to ensure effective project controls and successful delivery of projects within the required timelines.
Key Responsibilities Develop, review, and maintain detailed project programmes, master schedules, and baseline schedules for multiple projects. Establish appropriate Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), project milestones, activities, sequencing, and dependencies. Review contractors’ baseline programmes, revised programmes, recovery schedules, and programme updates. Monitor project progress against approved baseline programmes and identify delays, slippages, critical activities, and potential schedule risks. Perform critical path analysis and assess the impact of changes and delays on project completion dates. Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, look-ahead schedules, and management reports. Monitor actual progress against planned progress and analyse schedule variances. Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, commercial teams, consultants, and contractors to obtain accurate progress information. Develop and monitor short-term, medium-term, and long-term project plans. Review contractors’ manpower, equipment, and resource requirements against planned activities. Recommend corrective actions and recovery measures when projects fall behind schedule. Review Extension of Time (EOT) submissions and provide planning input regarding delay events and their impact on the programme. Support delay analysis, claims assessment, and evaluation of schedule-related contractual matters. Ensure that approved changes and variations are properly incorporated into project programmes. Maintain accurate planning records, progress data, schedule updates, and supporting documentation. Establish consistent planning and reporting procedures across the Company’s different projects. Consolidate planning information from multiple projects and prepare portfolio-level reports for senior management. Identify key programme risks across projects and escalate critical issues to management. Participate in progress meetings, coordination meetings, and management reviews. Provide guidance and technical support to project planners and planning engineers. Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, Company procedures, and applicable project controls standards
. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline. Minimum 12–15 years of relevant experience in project planning, scheduling, and project controls. At least 5 years of experience in a senior planning or Planning Manager position. Strong experience working on large-scale construction, infrastructure, industrial, building, or multidisciplinary projects. Experience managing and monitoring the planning requirements of multiple projects simultaneously is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of project scheduling, critical path methodology (CPM), progress measurement, forecasting, and delay analysis. Good understanding of construction methods, project sequencing, resource planning, and project delivery processes. Experience in reviewing contractor programmes, recovery programmes, EOT submissions, and delay claims. Good knowledge of construction contracts; experience with FIDIC contracts is an advantage. Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 is essential. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other project reporting and planning tools. Experience with Power BI or similar reporting/dashboard tools is an advantage. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills. Ability to work effectively with senior management, clients, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams. Excellent command of written and spoken English. Ability to manage priorities and deadlines across several projects simultaneously
