We are looking for a Chief Engineer to lead our clients technical operations, drive innovation, and ensure the highest standards of performance, safety, and reliability across all engineering functions. Role Purpose
Our client are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Chief Engineer / Marine Consultant to support the delivery of technical and procedural reviews, marine operations studies, and advisory reports across global energy projects, via the Middle East and Caspian region. This role combines high-level technical consultancy with regular site and offshore attendance, supporting clients on complex, world-wide energy-related marine operations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
You will be responsible for delivering marine consultancy projects from proposal through to completion, including:
Managing and delivering technical consultancy assignments end-to-end. Undertaking both quantitative and qualitative risk assessments relating to offshore marine operations. Conducting vessel suitability surveys, IMCA audits, and safety audits. Preparing high-quality proposals for new work, including scope definition, costing, and commercial input. Producing clear, comprehensive and technically robust reports in a timely manner, supported by appropriate calculations and analysis. Supervising and approving marine operations planning and execution. Acting as the Client’s Representative during offshore installation and marine operations. Liaising confidently with clients, responding promptly to technical queries and ensuring a high standard of service delivery. Supporting business development activity by professionally promoting the department to new and existing clients.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required:
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
Requirements: Degree in Engineering (or equivalent), Chartered Engineer status (or working toward it), significant senior-level marine engineering experience, strong people-management skills, and a solid understanding of relevant industry regulations and safety standards.
Other key requirements:
A First Class Certificate of Competency. Proven sea-going experience within the offshore oil & gas industry, with experience in one or more of the following:Jack-Ups, Anchor handling and rig moves (Highly desirable) Tow, supply and/or offshore support operations (T&I) DP operations experience as a certificated DP Operator (desirable) Experience in SMS auditing. A proactive and self-starting approach, with the confidence to work independently. Strong attention to detail, particularly in technically sensitive environments. Excellent written communication skills, with a particular strength in technical reporting. Strong commercial awareness and the ability to effectively support marketing and business development activity.
