Accounts Payable Accountant

An Accounts Payable Accountant performs accounting and clerical duties.

What will I be doing?

As Account Payable Accountant, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standard:

  • Verify payment supporting to align with hotel policy and procedures
  • Receive invoice and perform the reconciliation of vendor statements
  • Ensure the proper and timely booking of all payments and employee expenses and keep financial records updated and accurate
  • Perform expense fundamental analysis for management review after period close every month
  • Make sure all the files are kept secure, not only the invoices, but also all other supporting documents
  • Collect all supplier and employee payments and pass to bank accountant on time
  • Assist employees with the WorkDay operating on expense reimbursements
  • Give training and instructions to team members about expense reimbursements, cash advance and other procedures
  • Assemble, review and verify invoices and check requests
  • Flag and clarify any unusual or questionable invoice items or prices
  • Sort, code and match invoices
  • Set invoices up for payment
  • Enter and upload invoices into system
  • Track expenses and process expense reports
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments
  • Prepare and perform check runs
  • Post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
  • Maintain vendor files
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Produce monthly reports and assist with month end closing
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Maintain accurate historical records, and maintain confidentiality of organizational information


What are we looking for?

An Account Payable Accountant serving Hilton brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:

  • Previous experience in a high volume Accounts function
  • Computer literate, with good MS Excel skills
  • Good time management and organisation skills
  • High-level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Knowledge of accounts payable and general accounting procedures
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting software
  • Proficient in data entry and management
  • 1-3 years accounts payable or general accounting experience


It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Previous Accounts experience, preferably within a hotel environment
  • Relevant degree, in Accounting or related business discipline, from an academic institution
