Sr. Subsea Engineer - Material & Welding

  • The incumbent is responsible for all EPRS pipeline and cable project phases related to material and welding works. Responsible for leading materials and welding initiatives for the EPRS operations, as well as coordinating with other specialist disciplines, to provide mechanical, corrosion, inspection, and materials engineering support to the EPRS operations and projects.


Your Tasks


  • Responsible for the implementation of Company and recognized International Code & Standards for EPRS Division Material and Welding activities.
  • Provide technical support to projects regarding materials, corrosion, welding and fabrication.
  • Responsible for the technical assurance and quality management of technical documents prepared by contractors, including review and approve subcontractor/ vendor welding procedures and documentation and evaluate supplier’s requests for deviations. Ensure that all welding related operations are performed in accordance with the specification requirements and in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Focal point for the local welding quality manuals and materials specifications.
  • Responsible to develop material procurements specifications / datasheets, WPS, WPQ, WPQT, PWHT requirement for EPRS Division activities.
  • Responsible in analyzing engineering designs for welding requirements, reviewing welding procedures, processes, and documentation from EPRS Consultancy & Repair Contractor.
  • Responsible in conducting failure analysis and cause analysis on material and welding issues.
  • Responsible in evaluating new developments in material and welding technology for possible application in EPRS Division activities.
  • Support EPRS discipline engineers in developing a continuous improvement process related to material and welding activities.


Your Profile


  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in metallurgical/Material/Mechanical Engineering plus Welding specialty relating to upstream oil and gas from a recognized university.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of relevant oil and gas industry experience in a similar role.
  • Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng).
  • Experienced in coating, welding & materials inspection for Pipeline and Cables.
  • Good understanding of metallurgical and mechanical properties of metallic materials.
  • Ability to independently review WPS and WPQ qualified according to ASME, DNV or AWS.
  • Have a good level of familiarity of recognized industry codes and standards relevant to materials and welding discipline. (API 5L, DNV OS-F101, NORSOK, ASTM…).
  • The role holder will be responsible for providing advanced level of technical expertise in resolving complex technical issues related to Materials and Welding.
  • Computer literate.
  • Good command of English language. Shall read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with appropriate priority.
  • Self-starter/self-management/self-drive and ability to work without close monitoring.
  • Resilient under pressure (both internal and external).
  • Strong ability to deal with competing priorities and complex issues.
