The Library Services Directorate invites applications for the position of Research Services Librarian.


Your Commitment


Reporting to the Head, Reference and Library Services, the successful candidate will establish strong relationships with faculty and students and connecting them to the services, content and tools that meet their research, teaching and learning needs.


Duties & Responsibilities


Operational


The successful candidate will serve as the primary liaison to all academic business units with responsibilities for delivering a program of instruction, consultation, and research support services. And work closely with a team of librarians on designing library orientation program, library workshops, assessment and other information literacy activities.


The successful candidate will build collections in all formats that support research and curricular needs. Also, liaise with faculty and administrators concerning future academic directions, programmatic needs, and changes in course offerings that may impact how the library supports the business unit/program.


The successful candidate will develop responsive outreach and other information services; and take a leadership role on projects and initiatives as appropriate. And Assist students and faculty in discovering, using and evaluating resources within the library.


The successful candidate will support all UDST library users; explain techniques, policies and procedures. And Provide high quality enquiry support and ability to explain complex information clearly. Also, design, deliver, and evolve innovative library services to advance research scholarship.


The successful candidate will work collaboratively to steward collections in assigned areas through selection, assessment, and deselection to support the changing academic needs of scholars. Share expertise through teaching, creating self-help tools, collaboration, and other means. And partner with faculty on research projects and course design, from the research services perspective.


The successful candidate will create educational resources to facilitate student and faculty scholarship, support the University in the academic publishing process, from the research services perspective and provide guidance on Qatari copyright laws and international laws and best practices.


The successful candidate will collaborate with all UDST Colleges in identifying and promoting research support for faculty and graduate student research projects and perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications


Qualifications


Education and Certifications:


Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science, from an ALA-accredited or equivalent program, is required.


Experience:


Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Library Services or related field is required.


Previous experience in copyright law, scholarly communications, open access, authors’ rights, and scholarly use of intellectual property in an academic library is preferred.


Language:


Fluency in written and spoken English language is required


Fluency in written and spoken Arabic language is preferred


Other Required Skills


Attention to Detail, Teamwork and Collaborative Working, Time Management, Service Excellence with technical competencies in Library Science and process design and implementation are required.
