Job Description:

The Field Engineering department is seeking a Network Communications Engineer to join our team in support of the Air and Missile Defense Operations Center (ADOC) System for the Qatar Emiri Air Defense Forces (QEADF). The position is located at a QEADF site near the city of Doha, Qatar. As a Network Communications Engineer this position is responsible for providing support to the maintenance of network infrastructure and platform operating systems and for ensuring IT Infrastructure performance meets company and customer requirements. Duties include and are not limited to the organizational repair/maintenance of all communications equipment in support of the adjacent Sensor and Fire Units. The communications engineer System will provide Technical Assistance, Depot or 24/7 real world operations including being on call when communications support is needed. This includes computer networking with Cisco systems equipment, OSPF routing, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN connections, Virtual Private Networking, fiber optic links, and communication packet analysis. This position requires rotating shift work.

Candidates for this position will be on a Long-Term International Assignment (LTIA) in Qatar

Required Skills:

  • Successful completion of the Signal Support System Specialist for MOS 25B or an equivalent course of instruction conducted by the military or the system contractor.
  • Maintain a reliable, secure, and efficient data communications network.
  • Fully support, configure, maintain, and upgrade networks and servers including new hardware, cabling, wireless access points and applications install, licensing, and updates.
  • Provide end-to-end network support and understanding of network routing protocols including OSPF, BFD, PIM, MPLS and GRE
  • Effectively troubleshoot application traffic including VoIP, XMPP, SMTP, SNMP, and various multicast applications
  • Assist in the install and maintenance of encryption devices and provide support in troubleshooting of IKEv2 and IPSEC protocols.
  • Update firewall definitions, Intrusion Detection and Prevention Attack Databases, and Access Control Lists
  • Maintain VoIP system including Asterisk based Call Manager to add or remove phones and establish SIP trunks to external VoIP systems.
  • Maintain configuration control for switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance and generate network trend reports using SolarWinds.
  • Set up user accounts and permissions and have the ability to troubleshoot the active directory.
  • Diagnose and resolve e-mail, Microsoft Office, Windows OS, and local area network access problems.
  • Perform desktop hardware repair on equipment and peripherals that are not covered by maintenance agreements.
  • Coordinate and document repair on equipment with third party vendors when a maintenance contract is in place.
  • Must have at least 5 years of related communications experience in a military setting.
  • Proficiency using commercial test equipment to input test signals, signal traces and voltages, current and resistance measurements to isolate faults and recognize solutions.
  • Experience and training in IT communications, Cisco networking, Juniper, and TCP/IP type LAN/WAN connections.
  • Proficiency in the use of commercial test equipment and tools used in troubleshooting and repair of electronic circuits is mandatory.
  • Experience and training using typical communication test instruments.
  • Knowledge of basic and advanced electronics, HFSSB, VHF/UHF/AM and multiplex communications systems and associated control or switching equipment is required.
  • Must be able to work in harsh climates and be able to lift 50 lbs.

MUST HAVE CURRENT SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE, A VALID US PASSPORT, AND A US DRIVERS LICENSE.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working on Air Defense or Early warning systems (Patriot, EWR, Sentinel etc.,).
  • Should be skilled in troubleshooting and repair of the SINCGARS, MIDS terminals, JTIDS and similar type radios.
  • Should be skilled in troubleshooting and repair of the Thales 9310, Ultra 245. Capable of being tower climb certified.
  • Experience with ATDL-1, Link-11, Link-16, PADIL operations, and Air Defense System Integrator (ADSI).
  • Demonstrated experience or working knowledge of CPX-200/300, MLT- 220, and international Digital Switch Multiplexing Equipment.
  • Knowledge in the repair of secure digital fiber optic links and networks.

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering or related discipline. Will substitute experience for education (must have at least 10 years of experience).
