JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Speech and Language Pathology Supervisor, the Speech and Language Pathologist I is responsible for competently providing safe and effective Speech Language Pathology care to patients and their families.
The Speech and Language Pathologist assesses Speech and Language Pathology needs, plans, and implements and evaluates therapy programs working autonomously. The Speech and Language Pathologist I works in collaboration with other members of the health care team and to provide evidence-based care by integrating research with practice. The Speech and Language Pathologist I promotes and provides continuous improvement and helps to generate innovative ideas within Speech and Language Pathology practice.
The Speech and Language Pathologist I maintains a commitment to continued professional development and creates, utilizes and/or disseminates new knowledge to patients and their families, the public and other professionals internal /external health professionals. The Speech and Language Pathologist I is responsible for ensuring that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard.
The Speech and Language Pathologist I assists in the provision of supervision and training of peers and junior staff in addition to specialized training across a wide range of subjects within their clinical field.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology/Therapy
Experience:
2+ years clinical experience within relevant specialty area in an acute hospital setting
Certification and Licensure:
Registration as a Speech Language Pathologist and licensure in Country of Origin.
