Do you want to work on and lead exciting interdisciplinary infrastructure projects with a focus on road and highways? Do you have an interest in how to lead complex road/highway projects? Are you curious about how infrastructure and sustainability as well as mobility interact? And are you good at forming good collaborations both internally and externally?

Create solutions that will enable a better tomorrow
Are you ready to take on the challenge of leading the technical development and coordination between transportation infrastructure disciplines as a Technical Director?  If so, we want to hear from you!

You will be part of the Infrastructure East department, reporting directly to the Vice President, among a team where personal and professional development are important key words.  Open and useful feedback is highly valued, and the department’s management is encouraging and committed to the individual’s development.  The team consists of younger as well as experienced specialists, all of whom contribute with professional pride and to a good social culture.

As Technical Director, your responsibility will be to lead the technical development for the various disciplines within the department, enable the professional development of team members and expanding their competencies, and continue to enable the integration of sustainability practices and digitalisation initiatives.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Set the technical direction/focus of the department, identifying professional development opportunities consistent with the department strategy;
  • Encourage the combination of the infrastructure design and digitalisation specialist competencies on projects;
  • Set a consistent approach for the discipline teams enabling suitable coordination between these within the department and the greater organisation;
  • Together with the Senior Technical Director, support the technology agenda and ensure that Transportation is at the forefront of engineering knowledge and expertise;
  • Act as project manager or discipline lead on major multi-disciplinary transportation infrastructure design projects;
  • Coordinating resources on the various projects to deliver on agreed milestones; and
  • Overseeing the quality of deliverables to meet client and stakeholder expectations.

COWI is a leader within our field because our employees are leaders within theirs. We invite you to learn from the best and expand your potential in an outstanding environment, where we collaborate on shaping tomorrow's societies. Alongside the department’s management team, you will contribute to and enhance our technical capabilities while encouraging further collaboration between disciplines on project delivery, building your own expertise and leadership competencies on a day-to-day basis, working on global and local assignments.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.

The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

On top of that, you will have:

  • A recognized degree, with relevant experience in innovation, engineering, business development, or related disciplines;
  • A strong technical proficiency in the design of transportation infrastructure applying sustainable and digitalisation practices;
  • Leadership experience, demonstrating the achievement of business results through influence, presence, strategic thinking, and effective problem solving; and
  • 10+ years’ experience working on/managing transportation infrastructure design projects as a consultant for government or major infrastructure clients.

As a flexible organisation, we do allow staff to work from home and remotely as it suits. However, given you will be leading the technical direction of the various disciplines, we encourage you to work from the office with the team as much as possible.
