Job Title: Lead Database Engineer

Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Database Engineer who has expertise in PostgreSQL and knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc). The ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge of SQL, database concepts, Oracle, EDB, some knowledge of Kubernetes, and networking related to databases.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and migrate databases from Oracle to PostgreSQL and PostgreSQL to EDB
• Develop and maintain database infrastructure using Infrastructure Code tools like Terraform, Ansible, etc.
• Optimize database performance and ensure high availability, reliability, and security
• Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures
• Collaborate with software engineers, DevOps, and IT teams to ensure database compatibility with software applications
• Monitor and troubleshoot database issues, and provide timely resolution
• Develop and maintain database documentation, including data models, schemas, and diagrams
• Mentor and train other team members on database technologies and best practices

Requirements:

• Expertise in PostgreSQL database administration (recent versions like 14, and 15 would be an added advantage) including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Ansible, etc.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and database concepts, such as relational database design, data modeling, and indexing strategies
• Familiarity with Oracle and EDB databases
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and networking related to databases
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
