Accountant

Primarily responsible for supporting the Finance Manager in the following accounting functions, including but not limited to monthly and quarterly close; general ledger; recording and relieving accruals; account reconciliations; intercompany allocations and reconciliations; balance sheet and income statement analysis; compliance with IFRS, external and internal duties, design, implementation, and/or improvement of processes and internal controls; and other ad-hoc projects as necessary. This position will be a key liaison between the Finance department, Retail, Merchandising, Buying and Logistics.

Key Functions

  • Execute month-end close responsibilities.
  • Prepare reconciliations of all accounts required for divisional and group reporting.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, which include proper supporting documentation.
  • Analyze financial line items monthly and report on unusual or significant variances from previous periods and budget.
  • Work closely with the Company’s external auditors to get through the audit and supplemental bank reporting.
  • Reconcile intercompany transactions and ensure proper supporting documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with other Entity and Division accounting teams to ensure financial completeness and accuracy.
  • Handle Petty-cash expenses record
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Ad-hoc Projects - Provide assistance to the Manager, on ad-hoc projects, as necessary.


Qualifications

  • Team player with demonstrated ability to work with others outside of their direct reporting lines
  • Ability to communicate effectively, and articulate ideas and actionable recommendations to all levels.
  • Comfortable with language barriers or constraints; bilingual language skills are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and financial statements
  • Strong Project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and with cross-functional partners.
  • Attention to detail resulting in consistent, reliable, and accurate work product
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Flexible, adaptable, and proactive
  • Solid analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in Retail, Fashion or Accounting Firm
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
