Characterizes all resins purchased for processing.Specifies any additional items of characterization needed for improved product quality and machine performance.Specifies any additional test equipment needed to perform required characterization.Develops materials specifications and maintains data base for all polymers being used.Inspects incoming resins to verify conformance to specifications and establishes resin blends as needed for most cost effective performance.Verifies, as needed, that resin blends are conforming to expected characteristicsLeads all efforts in evaluating new resins for cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.Strives towards achieving the company goals by optimizing resin blends.Confers with shift and department supervisors to coordinate use of the most cost effective resin blends.Conduct mechanical testing of various polymer resins utilized for NDS products of: IZOD impact / Flexural Modulus / Melt Index / Tensile Strength / Density / Shrink Factor.Prescribe proper blending of resins with different characteristics to form blends that meet equal strength, form, fit, function and cosmetics in same category of virgin resins.Maintain log of conducted testing.Assist in problematic part quality issues to help determine if the problem issue is related to resin, mold, machine or processing technique.Complete and maintain daily production output records and other paperwork associated with daily production.Ensuring that resins are stored in proper environmental & operating conditions.Participating in safety program activities.Identifying hazards in the workplace and reporting them to their manager.Promotes Lean Manufacturing and implementation of 5S in the department.Other assignments as requested.Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering or Diploma from a reputed Plastic Institute or similar background.Minimum 5 years plastics processing experience on mold injection machines in a production environment.Possess excellent knowledge of injection molding manufacturing practices.Possess excellent computer, analytic and problem solving skills.Candidate with experience in silicon cartridges and sealants product will be preferred.
