Job Title: Electrical Construction Manager – Substation

Location: Project Site (Oil & Gas Facility)

Experience Required: Minimum 15 years

Job Summary

The Electrical Construction Manager will be responsible for the execution, supervision, and delivery of substation works within Oil and Gas Project. The role requires strong expertise in high-voltage substations, electrical systems, and MEP coordination within oil & gas environments. The candidate will ensure safe, timely, and quality-driven construction aligned with project specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all electrical construction activities related to substation works (GIS/AIS, transformers, cables, protection systems).
• Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage equipment (132 kV / 220 kV as applicable).
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure smooth execution.
• Manage interfaces across disciplines (civil, mechanical, E&I, telecom, and MEP systems).
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.
• Supervise subcontractors, vendors, and site teams to maintain productivity and quality.
• Monitor construction progress against schedule and implement recovery plans where required.
• Ensure strict adherence to HSE policies and promote a strong safety culture at site.
• Review and approve method statements, ITPs, RFIs, and technical queries.
• Coordinate with client, consultants, and stakeholders for inspections and approvals.
• Manage site logistics, material handling, and preservation of electrical equipment.
• Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities including energization readiness.
• Identify risks, resolve technical issues, and provide practical site solutions.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical construction, with significant exposure to oil & gas projects.
• Proven experience in substation construction (GIS/AIS) and high-voltage systems.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems integration within industrial projects.
• Familiarity with international standards (IEC, IEEE, NFPA) and utility requirements.
• Experience in brownfield projects and live plant interface management is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple contractors and complex site activities.
• Proficient in project planning, reporting, and coordination tools.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in major oil & gas projects (e.g., LNG, NGL, refinery, petrochemical plants).
• Exposure to client standards such as QatarEnergy, ADNOC, Aramco, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience in commissioning and energization of substations.
• Experience in handling interface with utility providers and grid connections.
