They include Human Resources, Learning and Development, Finance, IT, Client and Market and Risk Management. CSS provide direct assistance to other departments within KPMG to increase productivity and enhance customer experiences. While CSS teams might not directly interact with the company customers or stakeholders, they support the teams that do interact with these external constituents and help them to be more performant. <strong>Role Overview</strong> The Legal Counsel will provide legal support and advisory services to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, advising on regulatory matters, and supporting risk management initiatives. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple business units while maintaining confidentiality and professional integrity. <strong>Primary Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities:</strong> • <strong> Contract Management:</strong> o Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, engagement letters, and vendor contracts. o Ensure contractual terms align with firm policies and mitigate legal risks. • <strong>Regulatory Compliance:</strong> o Advise on compliance with local laws, regulations, and professional standards. o Monitor changes in legislation and assess their impact on the firm's operations. • <strong> Risk Management:</strong> o Support internal teams in identifying and managing legal risks. o Assist in implementing risk mitigation strategies and internal controls. • <strong>Dispute Resolution:</strong> o Provide guidance on dispute management and liaise with external counsel when necessary. o Prepare documentation for regulatory or legal proceedings. • <strong>Policy & Governance:</strong> o Contribute to the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures. o Ensure adherence to global and local confidentiality requirements. o Actively support governance frameworks by ensuring compliance with firm-wide risk management protocols, and ethical standards. Participate in internal committees or working groups to strengthen governance practices and provide legal input on strategic decisions impacting compliance and regulatory obligations. • <strong>Stakeholder Engagement:</strong> o Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders on legal and compliance matters. o Maintain effective communication with regulatory authorities and external legal advisors. o Provide necessary legal training to Engagement teams to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations. <strong>Qualification and Experience</strong> • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB); Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., Bar admission) preferred. • Minimum 6-8 years of legal experience, ideally within a Big 4 or multinational professional services firm. • Strong knowledge of commercial law, corporate governance, and regulatory frameworks in Qatar. • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills. • Bilingual proficiency (Arabic & English) is a must.
