About The Role
We are seeking a Deputy Head of Primary for our Gharaffa Campus, which is a stand-alone Primary school for students aged 3-11.
As Deputy Head of Primary, you’ll work to ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning. You will ensure that everything we do is connected to our vision to create a generation of resilient and creative global citizens, who will change our world for the better. Your educational philosophy will equip you to meet the needs of all learners and be able to teach students with a range of prior achievement, knowledge, and skills. Your expertise and adaptability will allow you to map out pathways for all students to make progress and achieve success.
About You
You are an outstanding Primary practitioner, with at least five years of teaching experience across the Primary age range. You will have a proven track record as a Primary middle leader, perhaps as a Head of Year or subject manager, and will be able to evidence impact on student outcomes as a result of your leadership. Together with the Head, you will develop a vision for excellence and continual improvement. You will be able to support the Head of Primary in the day-to-day operation of the school and will deputise for her when necessary. You will excel in leading and managing people by creating a culture where colleagues are both supported and challenged to deliver the best possible learning experience for students. You will empower a highly motivated team by nurturing positive working relationships built on respect, trust, support, and recognition. You will lead improvement through rigorous self-evaluation and use quality assurance feedback to identify improvement priorities moving forward. You will utilise your first-class management skills such as resource management, curriculum planning, data analysis, performance tracking, task delegation, organisation of meetings and creating teacher timetables.
As Deputy Head, you will nurture a learning culture where students and staff are supported, challenged, and inspired to be the best they can be - students and staff will believe there are no limits to what can be achieved. Your excellent motivation and communication skills will enable you to create a feeling of energy, excitement, and personal investment across the school.
Receptive to feedback and ready to embrace change, you will be keen to share best practice with colleagues and peers. As a strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students and parents across our Primary School, and the wider Nord Anglia Education communities.
You Will Have The Following
- university degree in education or in your specialist subject
- teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE/PGDE)
- at least 5 years of Primary classroom teaching experience
- substantial middle leadership experience in a relevant Primary role
You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Qatar, including possession of a Bachelor’s degree and a teaching qualification from a face-to-face (non-online) course.

Essential
Experience / Qualifications Sought
- A university degree
- A teaching qualification (QTS or PGCE/PGDE)
- At least 5 years of Primary classroom teaching experience
- Outstanding teaching ability
- Substantial middle leadership experience in a relevant Primary role
Desirable
- Some UK teaching experience is strongly preferred
- Some international teaching experience is desirable
- Range of teaching experience across different year groups (KS1 & KS2)
- In-depth understanding of the English National Curriculum
- Working knowledge of the English EYFS Framework & Development Matters document
- Masters’ degree or evidence of other substantial professional development activity
- The ability to develop good personal relationships within a team
- Ability to prioritize workloads and to work on own initiative
- Ability to assess and predict potential risks and recommend essential remedial measures
