Security Supervisor

Job Summary 

Responsible for the management of all aspects of the security department operation, in accordance with hotel standards. Actively participate in the day-to-day security operation of the property to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all guests, visitors, associates, and property. Take full responsibility for supervising house officers to enforce security policies and procedures in accordance with Rosewood corporate guidelines and ensure compliance to all local, city and country regulations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•To assess and report potential loss situations in the hotel in order that accidental Profit loss may be prevented.

•To report and investigate all thefts and criminal offences in the hotel or affecting the hotel, record all relevant incidents to the Security Manager and Assistant Security Manager.

•To assess and report potential safety hazards in order that remedial action is taken.

•The identification and removal of all undesirables who are seen to be of detriment to the hotel and / or its clients.

•To assist in the supervision and application of the key control system for all rooms, departments and master keys of the hotel.

•To ensure the secure handling of all cash movements throughout the hotel.

•To assist in enquiries from the civil defense, local police or other Government departments and law enforcement officers.

•To respond immediately to all fire alarms and act in accordance with policy and procedures with regard to fire, also to respond to all exit and security alarms, making a full investigation and reporting accordingly.

•To comply with any other reasonable instruction from the Director of Security, Security Manager, Assistant Security Manager.

•To be familiar with anti-terrorist and bomb threat procedure and are able to act as a leader in the event of emergency.

•To render prompt assistance in the case of a fire, accident or any other emergency that may arise.

•To check that all fire doors and escape routes are clear and to patrol the building.

•To comply with the standing orders for Rosewood Doha, reference Business Continuity, threat Conditions and Pandemic.

•To ensure all security and hotel records are maintained in the manner instructed by for Rosewood Doha.

•To assist in the training of members of associates inside / outside the security department.

•By studying professional publications to keep abreast of new developments, trends and systems in the security field of today.

•To ensure personal compliance with Health and Safety, Fire and Hygiene regulations and to ensure that associates are fully aware of their responsibilities in this aspect and comply with them.

•The hotel relies greatly on the flexibility of its associates to ensure the continuity of the high standards to be achieved. The job description therefore is a guide to the most regular duties and is not an exhaustive list of all aspects of the position.

•It does not form part of any contract of employment and is subject to amendment or change as may be considered necessary from time to time.

•To ensure the rotas for security officers are in place, cover for security officers is secured in the event of absence, sickness, or holidays.

•To regularly monitor physical items in guest bedrooms and public areas and preventative action is taken before defects arise.

•Leads by example in evoking a friendly and caring attitude that anticipates the guest’s requirements rather than only reacts to them.

•Engenders a culture of continuous improvement within the department. Looks to consistently improve on quality and efficiency. Challenges and encourages creative approaches to problem-solving. Proactive anticipation and removal of problems before they arise.

•Sets an example in personal grooming encouraging associate to be well groomed, and well dressed in accordance with the hotel’s dress code/wardrobe guidelines and are punctual for duty and appointment obligations.

•Liaises easily with hotel guests, members and prospective guests, ensuring immediate attention and a welcome is always forthcoming, handling enquiries promptly and politely, and resolving any problems that may occur from time to time.

•Ensures that regular operational purchases (i.e. consumables, guest supplies) are carried out by the appropriate associate, with all purchases requiring an authorised Purchase Order before order.

•Ensure that regular CCTV system audits are carried out to ensure optimum operation.

•Manages the associate monthly roster, attendance, and departmental leave plan.

•Ensures that time sheets are completed in a timely manner and are in accordance to actual time worked.

•Ensure personal compliance with Health and Safety, Fire and Hygiene regulations and to ensure that Associates are fully aware of their responsibilities in this respect and comply with them.

•Fill out Daily logs, incidents report.

•Ensure the rotas for security officers are in place cover for security officers are covered in the event of absence, sickness or holidays.

• Ensure new technology and equipment is embraced, improving productivity whilst taking work out of the system.

• Establish and maintain an inclusive environment by ensuring effective two ways communication processes are set up (individual reviews, regular departmental meetings).

• Lead by example in terms of appearance, mannerism, etiquette, behavior conduct, principles, and values. Manage by walking around at appropriate times and leads by personal example in terms of guest interaction.

Whist working for the company there will be access to a wide variety of confidential information concerning the company, guests, and associates. It is vital that all such information remains confidential and must not be disclosed to anyone outside the company, guests, and associates, unless otherwise stated. 

Health & Safety

•Be aware of all existing departmental Job Safety Analysis and Risk assessments and strive to work in an accident-free manner and to create a safe work environment for others. To continuously look for conditions which may endanger associates or guests of the hotel and to take immediate action to correct any hazardous conditions found.

• Be aware of and comply with safe working practices as laid down under the Health and Safety rules, regulations and procedure as applicable to your place of work. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards at your workplace.

• The wearing of appropriate protective clothing provided by or recommended by the Company will be obligatory.

• Report any defects in the building, plant or equipment according to hotel procedure.

•Ensure that any accidents to staff, guests or visitors are reported immediately in accordance with correct procedures.

•Attend Statutory Fire, Health & Safety training and be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning Fire, Health & Safety.
