About the Role
As a Planning Engineering Services Manager, you will work collaboratively with other QAS Engineering Department managers in providing planning support for all department functional activities. Specifically, play a pivotal role in liaising with QAS equipment and transport managers, as well as Subsidiaries’ representatives, to develop an effective planned maintenance regime across the equipment range. Leading the implementation, development and continuous improvement of cost effective fleet management solutions.
- Works with the QAS Engineering management to coordinate planning activities and standards within their respective areas of the Engineering Department.
- Propose to the Fleet Management department in accordance with the reliability of the GSE a short- and long-term fleet replacement plans based upon business needs, equipment reliability, maintainability, cost, quality and operational efficiency.
- Responsible for calculating the CUF (Failure Unavailability Cost) per type of GSE’s as well as defining and executing plans to reduce the out-of-service time.
- Responsible of defining maintenance action plans in order to maximize the reliability.
- Responsible for leading Micro Planning process and executing to achieve an adequate adherence of the PMI and management and ensure that four pillars of the Micro Planning are executed.
- Work with training and stakeholders to actively take part in the training and maintenance strategy to increase the knowledge of technicians.
- Work with line manger to be a part of RCA (Root Cause Analysis) investigation in order to propose an action plan to increase the reliability.
- Utilizes assest management systems to develop the maintenance schedules, prioritized projects, work programs, reports, and resource schedules to make the most efficient use of budget and resources to support achievement of departmental goals and the organizations strategic objectives.
- Responsible to propose a differents alternative plans to improve the productivity in the workshop.
- Responsible for managing the productivity report and propose the action plan to increase the productivity on daily basis and ensure the improvement plans are adhered .
- Manages the involvement of suppliers [vendors] in maintenance related activities. Coordinates the implementation of these services with the Managers GSE Maintenance and Fleet Services by monitoring day to day maintenance planning activities and integrating work backlog resource issues into the overall work plan.
- Oversees the input and extraction of data from the databases related to engineering services management and planning.
- Researches and develops activities and projects based on issues/trends identified within the data base.
- Collects and interprets statistical and narrative data related to maintenance and capital planning for the department to strategically maximize effectiveness of repairs/replacements.
- Recommends and reports to the Head of Department on current budget and resources available to onvert the organizations asset management and maintenance strategy into workplace activities
- Manages the department’s maintenance related documents and records including job cards, maintenance schedules, maintenance manuals, audits, and action plans.
- Manages the Department’s electronic business tools including FMMS, EAM and Telematics platforms.
- Develops and implements supporting business processes, procedures, standards and KPI’s to monitor and improve the customer service model to ensure the effective delivery of services.
- Reports on a regular basis to the QAS management team on all KPI’s, major projects, roll out and developments
- Maintain oversight of all related fleet management costs to ensure that total cost of equipment ownership is managed effectively through life.
- Monitors operational availability of fleet assets taking proactive action to address areas of concern and KPI targets that are not met.
- Researches and assists in preparation of business cases for future funding of development and investment in manpower, new equipment and equipment upgrades.
- Provide Procurement with feedback on equipment reliability and supplier performance in supporting equipment through life.
- Work collaboratively with procurement to define the technical specification requirements for equipment acquisition.
- Holds regular planning meetings with engineering management to review the progress of planned and scheduled work including, current and on-going problems or difficulties, work force availability and the timely completion of assigned work within the budget as well as future work and backlogged work.
- Liaises with internal and external customers on maintenance work coordination and scheduling issues.
- Ensures sound sustainability management practices are established and maintained within the maintenance environment.
- Develops and ensures compliance with departmental and QAS Quality policies, procedures and standards.
- Liaises with Safety, Security and Support Services on areas of common interest and works with the department to develop best practices that assists them with setting a standard of excellence in safety practices in the department.
- Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department
Qualifications
About you
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with minimum 6 years of job-related work experience
- Post high school training (apprentice, certificate)
- Managerial experience of working within planning field or maintenance
- Command of English language
- Comprehensive knowledge of preventative, predictive and demand maintenance practices.
- Strong inter-personal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain records and prepare technical reports
- Demonstrated proficiency using computerized maintenance management systems.
- Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
Preferred
- Experience in Ground Support Equipment planning
- Experience in working within workshop environment
- Experience with Oracle ERP & EAM.
