About the role

In this role, you will be accountable for the development and implementation of Dangerous Goods (DG) Cargo strategy, policies, procedures, training and oversight program for Qatar Airways to meet regulatory requirements of QCAA, and globally ensuring safe operations for the airline.

As part of your role, your responsibilities will be inclusive of, but not limited to the following:

  • Develop and implement strategies for Dangerous Goods for Qatar Airways Cargo, in collaboration with all departments, aligned with organizational overall goals and objectives to ensure compliance and safe operation.
  • Identify emerging industry trends and opportunities, manage overall Dangerous Goods for the airline, and recommend strategic initiatives to maintain competitive edge, operational efficiency and safe operation.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and best practices, in collaboration with all departments, to optimize operational efficiency and ensure compliance with the relevant regulations.
  • Oversee day-to-day of the Dangerous Goods (DG) operations, ensuring efficient, effective delivery of DG services and products compliant with Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation, other relevant international regulations and standards.
  • Act as the advisor and represent QR in QCAA on specific working groups including IATA/ICAO panel meetings to ensure QR issues are addressed and industry consensus can be achieved when changing regulations. Represent QR on IATA/ICAO safety initiatives related to DG.
  • Work in collaboration with IATA on regulatory, procedural changes and variations of QR and state of Qatar to ensure International Air Transport Association publications (The Air Cargo Tariff (TACT), IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation (DGR) and Lithium Battery Shipping Regulations (LBSR) are always up-to-date ensuring compliant and smooth information flows to the external service providers and QR customers.
  • Oversee and supervise employees. Direct daily activities, recruit, train, develop and discipline to ensure a high standard of service delivery.

Qualifications

About you

  • Minimum High School qualification  with at least 9 years of job-related experience.
  • Excellent command of English language and influencing capabilities.
  • Must hold Dangerous Good Acceptance Certification within past three years.
  • Training in auditing, risk assessment, investigation and experienced of training/mentoring Dangerous Goods teams.
  • Expert knowledge on IATA and ICAO Dangerous Goods Regulations with up to date technical developments and operational safety issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
