Preservation Electrical Engineer

Overview

The Preservation Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the protection and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems throughout the storage, transportation, and installation phases of a project.

This role involves developing preservation procedures, conducting inspections, and maintaining records to ensure all electrical components are preserved according to industry standards and project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement preservation procedures for electrical equipment, including motors, panels, switchgear, transformers, and cables based on project specifications and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of preserved electrical equipment during storage, handling, and installation phases to ensure compliance with preservation standards.
  • Coordinate with project, procurement, and construction teams to incorporate preservation requirements into all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor environmental conditions (humidity, temperature, etc.) in storage areas and ensure preservation measures are in place to prevent equipment degradation.
  • Maintain detailed records of preservation activities, including checklists, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to site personnel on electrical preservation requirements and best practices.
  • Identify and resolve preservation-related issues that could impact equipment functionality or safety.
  • Support commissioning activities by ensuring preserved electrical equipment is correctly prepared for operational testing and start-up.
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers to resolve technical queries related to preservation measures and equipment specifications.
  • Develop and update preservation schedules to ensure timely implementation of preservation tasks according to project timelines.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills

  • Certification in Electrical Preservation or related field is an advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Office and preservation management tools or software.

Years Of Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical preservation in the oil and gas or similar industry.

Technical Knowledge

  • Electrical Preservation Techniques: In-depth knowledge of preservation techniques for electrical equipment, including protection from moisture, dust, corrosion, and mechanical damage during all project phases.
  • Industry Standards: Familiarity with international standards and practices for electrical preservation, such as IEEE, IEC, NACE, and API standards.
