Overview
The Preservation Lead is responsible for overseeing the preservation activities for equipment and materials throughout the project lifecycle.
This role ensures that all preservation tasks are executed in accordance with project specifications, standards, and procedures to maintain the integrity and functionality of equipment until it is installed and commissioned.
The Preservation Lead coordinates with various teams to ensure proper preservation methods are applied and maintained.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement preservation plans, procedures, and schedules for equipment and materials, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Lead the preservation team, providing guidance and training to ensure proper execution of preservation tasks, including storage, handling, and maintenance.
- Monitor preservation activities to ensure that correct methods, such as sealing, coating, and environmental controls, are applied to protect equipment from corrosion, contamination, and damage.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure preservation requirements are integrated into project execution plans.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of preservation activities to identify non-conformities, initiate corrective actions, and ensure adherence to preservation standards.
- Maintain preservation records, including preservation checklists, logs, and reports, to document preservation status and compliance throughout the project.
- Manage the preservation inventory, including the monitoring of preservation materials, chemicals, and spare parts to ensure availability when needed.
- Work closely with vendors and suppliers to ensure that preservation requirements are understood and met during the delivery, storage, and installation of equipment.
- Address and resolve preservation issues that arise during the project, collaborating with other departments to implement corrective measures.
- Ensure all preservation activities are carried out safely, adhering to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills
- Certification in Preservation Management or equivalent is .
- Proficient in MS Office and preservation management software/tools.
Years Of Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in preservation roles, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory position within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or construction industry.
Technical Knowledge
- Preservation Methods and Standards: In-depth knowledge of preservation techniques, standards, and best practices for various types of equipment and materials used in industrial projects.
- Inspection and Documentation: Experience in conducting preservation inspections, audits, and maintaining comprehensive records to ensure compliance and traceability.
