Job Summary:
The major responsibility will be to lead and guide the present factory teams at the steel fabrication factories for PEB and Hot Rolled structural steel fabrication shop as well as for the galvanizing factory.
The Operations Director will oversee the entire operational function of the steel factory, ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe production processes while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence. The role requires extensive experience in managing production lines, supply chain, maintenance, quality control, and workforce management in the steel or heavy manufacturing industry. The Operations Director will work closely with senior management to align operational activities with overall business objectives, focusing on cost control, productivity, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee the end-to-end manufacturing processes, ensuring the steel production lines operate efficiently, meeting production targets, and adhering to safety regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve production efficiency, reduce downtime, and increase yield.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure optimal performance across the plant.
- Lead the development and implementation of operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
Production & Quality Control:
- Ensure the steel products meet the highest quality standards, working closely with the Quality Control team to maintain compliance with industry specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production processes to enhance product quality and reduce waste.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs that minimize equipment downtime.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations across all operations.
- Implement safety programs and conduct regular safety audits to minimize workplace hazards.
- Ensure the factory complies with all legal and industry regulations related to steel manufacturing.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with HR to ensure proper staffing, training, and development of the workforce.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives to improve morale and productivity within the plant.
Strategic Planning & Reporting:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop long-term operational strategies aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
- Prepare and present operational reports to senior management, outlining performance, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering ( Mechanical or Civil). Master’s degree will be preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in a steel manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Proven experience in leading large-scale production operations and driving operational improvements.
- Strong knowledge of steel manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a focus on mentoring and developing staff.
- Thorough understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in steel production.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Experience in GCC is a plus.
