VP Line, Light and Outstations

Qatar Airways Group is seeking a senior leader to enhance our current Line & Light Maintenance capabilities, to support a growing airline with multiple Fleet types in a safe and cost-efficient way, while ensuring compliance with QCAA/EASA Part 145 regulations and QR Technical procedures. 

The senior leader will oversee necessary maintenance (including defect rectification) in accordance with standards specified in the CAME, MOE, TPM and in compliance with QCAR-145 requirements. The same is also responsible for establishing a quality system for Line turnaround and CALM, Workload Scheduled Maintenance, Production Control, Line Maintenance International and Outstations to ensure that all work is accomplished to the highest standards workmanship and airworthiness. 

The VP will ensure that all maintenance is correctly certified and that the records of all maintenance procedures carried out are retained and stored safely for the designated statutory period. Responsible also for reporting to the manufacturer and to QCAA / EASA through quality assurance any conditions of an aircraft or component which could hazard safety, and have the responsibility and duty of care for the effective management of all personnel, technical, legal and economic activities within their respective scope of duties.

Accountabilities:

Strategic and Operational Formulation:

  • Develop procedures to improve efficiency and productivity of Line & Light Maintenance services in accordance with statutory requirements within Qatar Airways Technical to ensure that all required scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of all Qatar Airways and third-party customer aircraft are accomplished on time and within budget.
  • Develop and update a 5-year business plan - expansion planning in long, medium and short terms in relation to maintenance, facility, staffing, equipment, IT, capacity and changing industrial and business opportunities and environment.
  • Drive continuous focus on business optimisation and efficiencies.
  • Monitor and manage the Line & Light maintenance department performance KPIs, including data gathering.
  • Develop and maintain an efficient quality monitoring procedure.

Specific tasks and statutory responsibilities as per Part-145

  • Providing the maintenance interface with the Flight Operations department and all technical departments as required.
  • Oversee completion and certification of all work required by Qatar Airways, contracted operators and customers in accordance with the work specification.
  • Ensuring that all departmental procedures and standards for all maintenance work that is undertaken are complied with at all times, as per Part-145 and all other relevant requirements.
  • Ensuring that the quality of workmanship in the final product produced by all aircraft maintenance employees is to the standards set by QCAA / EASA and the department.
  • Ensuring the competence of all maintenance personnel by establishing a programme of skills and continuation training for all personnel engaged in aircraft maintenance, developing and maintaining the quality and training standards in coordination with the Vice President Technical Quality Assurance and Technical Training.
  • Ensuring regular, punctual and economical airplane maintenance as per the relevant standards.
  • Ensuring that all facilities are appropriate and proper short-term planning of personnel and tools by close coordination with centralised planning function. Therefore, guaranteeing sufficient competent personnel are always available to plan, supervise, inspect and certify all maintenance work being performed.
  • Responsible to address all quality, health and safety deficiencies that are highlighted by independent audits within the areas of responsibility.
  • Ensuring regular on time and economical aircraft maintenance in support of the commercial activities of the business.
  • Responsible for defect analysis of all aircraft in maintenance or in operation and the reporting of all data to all relevant parties and authorities.
  • Plan, control and administer the Aircraft Maintenance function budget.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Management. Undertake any special projects, assignments or any other responsible requests by SVPT in support of the business

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 10+ years of job-related experience
  • Command of English language
  • Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members

Preferred:

  • Degree in Engineering would be an asset
  • License in Aircraft Engineering would an advantage
  • Process Engineering and project management experience
