LC Officer – Import LC Issuance

Role Objective

The LC Officer – Import LC Issuance ensures timely processing of daily import LC transactions in compliance with bank policies, regulations, and UCP guidelines. They check LC applications, process amendments, provide support, and dispatch documents to customers/banks.


Qualifications and Experience

  • University graduate in Business, Banking, Finance, or a related field
  • Master's degree is an advantage
  • 5-8 years of experience in financial services/banking, with responsibilities in the specific discipline
  • Experience in trade finance operations in banking


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform operational activities assigned by the Senior LC Officer
  • Check LC application forms for accuracy and compliance
  • Ensure clauses in applications do not conflict with LC regulations
  • Obtain necessary approvals based on customer financial position
  • Input LC data into the system and dispatch copies to customers/banks
  • Prepare request letters for insuring LCs and maintain insurance records
  • Process LC amendments and compute related charges
  • Receive and check shipping guarantee applications
  • Follow up with customers on stale shipment items
  • Respond to queries from customers and employees
  • Maintain filing of all LC documents and liaise with Archives
  • Maintain confidentiality, professional conduct, ethics and integrity
