Assistant Manager - HSE

Overview of the role : 

 

This role is required to ensure the best quality of HSE services in a competent manner to maintain all safety aspects. This role serves to monitor and supervise all of the HSE activities to facilitate the safe and healthy running of Projects. 

Maintain all records of incidents and accidents reports, and present data to management, leading on proactive actions to resolve and prevent any HSE incidents. Dedicate effort to prevent repetition of accidents and ensure all stakeholders are aware of Company’s Health & Safety culture.

 

What you will do : 

 

  • By co-ordination and communication with AFET management, ensure that the AFET HSE requirements are understood at all levels.
  • To plan, direct and supervise the HSE functions and activities.
  • Co-ordinate HSE steering committee.
  • To ensure implementation of HSE management system. 
  • To represent the HSE Department at all management meetings either internally or externally.
  • To identify the need for and liaise with third parties for specialized training of AFET personnel including the training of sub-contractors where required.
  • To liaise with Sub-Contractors management on all issues relating to HSE.
  • To plan and schedule HSE system and compliance audits of both AFET and sub-contractors.
  • To promote a ‘Best Practice” through benchmarking and communicate the results to management for assessment and possible implementation.
  • Co-ordinate with other Senior Project Staff relating to scheduling of activities and manpower requirements and ensuring adequate coverage from HSE during execution of the works.
  • To establish Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for HSE where trends are measured ‘Root cause’ identified and improvement programs implemented.
  • Ensure that the method statements have been reviewed and that the critical activities identified have been ‘Risk assessed” and that relevant inspection and test plan are attached and endorsed by the relevant authorities.
  • To promote ‘Best Practice” through benchmarking and communicate the results to management for assessment
  • Responsible for attaining HSE Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) where trends are measured ‘Root Causes’ identified, and improvement programs implemented.
  • Collate relevant information and produce reports for AFET management to advice on status of any pending issues.
  • To represent AFET at all HSE management meetings either internally or externally.
  • Ensure that method statements have been reviewed and that critical activities identified have been ‘Risk assessed” and that relevant inspection and test plans are attached and endorsed by the relevant authorities.

  • Engineering degree qualification
  • OHSS / NEBOSH Diploma or Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • HSE knowledge and experience within a dynamic engineering & technology business.
