About the Role

An exciting opportunity to join the Qatar Airways Group Medical Department as Performance Psychologist. The role, being part of the multi-disciplinary Lifestyle Medicine & Human Performance team is responsible to facilitate the development and implementation of a comprehensive wellbeing program for all QR Group staff. Responsible to provide one-on-one and group sessions designed to assess, improve and enhance human performance through evidence-based psychological interventions and mental skills training.

Your duties would include:

  • Partner with senior leadership to develop comprehensive and innovative strategies to improve employee performance aligned with the departmental goals and employee needs.
  • Research and evaluate emerging trends and best practices in mental health promotion and human performance optimization within the aviation industry and ensure to introduce and implement up to date psychological health interventions in QR Group.
  • Develop and implement measurable goals and objectives for the health and performance programs.
  • Conduct psychological needs assessments, e.g., surveys, focus groups, to identify key health concerns and opportunities to develop internal programs accordingly to bring relevant improvement among staff.
  • Implement the principles of performance psychology to improve and enhance human performance across QR group aligned with Employee Health objectives.
  • Deliver individual psychological performance coaching and consultancy to enhance and promote the mental health and performance of QR Group staff.
  • Utilize information from clinical interviews, psychological testing and collateral sources to conduct psychological assessments.
  • Engage with Lifestyle Medicine & Human Performance team through regular participation and active contribution in team meetings and program updates.
  • Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to assess, enhance and promote individual and group performance and wellbeing.
  • Work effectively with team members to design and deliver comprehensive, innovative and customized mental skills programs to promote and optimize overall performance and staff resilience.
  • Develop, plan and implement mental skills programs to support all aspects of individual readiness and resilience.
  • Assist staff in return to work initiatives for employees returning from long-term medical related leave through employee assistance programs (EAP).
  • Provide support to business psychologists for suitability assessments in response to management referrals as and when where required.
  • Work flexibly and autonomously in managing own schedule and program delivery according to staff and operational need where required.
  • Develop and update a section of the departmental resource library focused on human performance and human factors principles and strategies within own scope of practice.
  • Assist line manager with the promotion and facilitation of the Staff Ambassador Program, assisting staff in understanding the unique needs and challenges faced by colleagues regarding health and wellbeing.
  • Assist and contribute to the continued growth and success of the National Talent Development Program, in supporting the engagement, integration and work performance of national talent by coaching the national developees, preparing them for a productive and fulfilling career.
  • Provide interdepartmental support to the Primary Care, Clinical Psychology and Aeromedical teams to expand the remit and quality of services offered.
  • Establish, review & update SOPs relevant to psychology service delivery & keep them updated at all times.
  • Monitor, review and respond to performance psychology related data and information as part of the overall service improvement processes.
  • Participate in applied research in the field of human performance enhancement, occupational psychology and human factors within the aviation sector.
  • Advocate for a supportive workplace culture that values and prioritize employee health.
  • Travel where required for training or program implementation at other Qatar Airways locations, collaborating with team members outside Qatar.
  • Represent the values of the Lifestyle Medicine & Human Performance department in all their duties and interactions with clients, partners and stakeholders.
  • Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Qualifications

We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional to join our Group Medical team. The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 6 years of job-related experience
  • Minimum 5 years of licensing experience with MOPF
  • Previous experience as a Performance Psychologist
  • Experience in the development and implementation of initiatives and work programs
  • Master’s Degree in the relevant field would be an advantage
  • Previous experience in the corporate, aviation, military or health sector would be a plus
  • Background in clinical psychology is preferred
  • Experience working within multi-national/multi-cultural teams or departments
  • Experience delivering advice and guidance to team leaders and departmental managers
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Able to utilize IT/technology effectively, for e.g., Microsoft Office, online learning platforms
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for health and wellness with a desire to empower others
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills
  • Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills
  • Ability to foster teamwork among team members, help cultivate healthy and respectful work environment
  • Strong moral and ethical values

  • Bilingual or multi-lingual fluency (including Arabic)
