The Position The client is looking to recruit a Senior Microeconomist experienced in providing advice on the behavior of individual markets, sectors or industries at the national level. The candidate will be responsible for conducting studies and analysis of economic data in relation to cost of doing business, market failure, or opportunity costs; prepare interpretive reports, and advise on economic matters for various sectors related programs. The candidate will also be required to model the implications of policy reforms and predicts how it affects consumer activity, and the overall business environment. He/she must have detailed knowledge of sector modelling, including supply and demand dynamics of firms and/or economic clusters or special zones. Ability to quantitatively model the impact of policy reforms on a given industry or the public, is highly desired. Duties and responsibilities · Develop, estimate, and test micro-econometric models to identify factors associated with or affecting sectors-related concerns. · Conduct data analyses to researched sectors economics issues. · Collaborate with different sectors leaders and other groups on behalf of the client on key project matters while focusing on team efficiency improvements. · Assess the supply and demand in identified sectors and understand the various costs of business in order to set prices or allocate resources. · Provide analysis and interpretation of economic and related information that is relied upon in policy and program decision-making. · Conduct investigations, reviews, and studies that apply a thorough knowledge of microeconomic theory to study the behavior of individual consumers, corporations, and industries in order to analyze how markets establish relative prices · Develop oral and written products, tailored to the needs of the audience, in support of recommendations involving the economic aspects of new or proposed policies. · Draft, present, and defend positions for policy or enforcement decisions. · Uses expert knowledge of microeconomic literature to identify current best economic research practices for each sector on which he/she is called to consult or contribute. · Produce written reports and presentations in language comprehensible to a nontechnical audience. Qualifications: Master's or PhD degree in microeconomics or econometrics or related discipline Minimum 15 years of combined relevant experience in international institutions and/or companies, government agencies, and with consistent record of successful engagement with complex analytics. Minimum of 10 years of experience in using applied microeconomics models for scenario analysis, forecasting firms and sectoral economic impact Economic modelling expertise, creativity, and adaptability Proven track record of results in team leadership, project management, qualitative and quantitative analysis of data and information Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain economic concepts and their implications to non-specialists. Work experience or interest in the region of the GCC and the Middle East and North Africa An understanding of micro and macro-economic theory models as they relate to several sectors. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in teams. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Ability to operate effectively in a multicultural environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
