Job Description – QA/QC Inspector (Marine)
The QA/QC Inspector (Marine) will be responsible for carrying out quality assurance and quality control activities across marine projects, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, class requirements, project specifications, and international standards. The role involves performing inspections, coordinating with clients and classification societies, preparing detailed reports, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality systems.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct fit-up, visual inspection, and dimensional checks as per approved drawings, and prepare corresponding inspection reports. Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) including MPI, DPT, UT, and RT as per project requirements and submit reports. Carry out Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging inspections and prepare reports in accordance with Class requirements using Auto CAD drawings and respective Class-approved thickness measurement software. Witness pressure testing and vacuum testing as per project requirements and issue certificates upon completion. Coordinate with client representatives to support scheduled QA/QC surveillance activities. Liaise with classification societies and third-party inspection agencies for inspections, surveys, and other required quality assurance activities. Perform mechanical and machine shop inspection activities such as trueness checks, shaft alignment, and bearing alignment. Conduct incoming inspection of paint materials and perform blasting and painting inspections. Monitor and ensure adherence to approved procedures by production teams. Verify proper control of welding consumables, material handling, identification, traceability, and calibration activities. Participate in investigations and root cause analysis for NCRs, customer complaints, and other non-conformities. Ensure QA/QC documents and records are maintained according to document control procedures. Perform incoming material inspections and prepare inspection reports. Prepare welding and NDT traceability master trackers when required. Ensure calibration of QA/QC inspection instruments and maintain calibration registers. Ensure all health and safety procedures are strictly followed on-site. Perform any other duties assigned by the management.
Qualification & Experience
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy. Minimum 3 years of experience in Marine / Oil & Gas / Petrochemical industries (GCC experience preferred). CSWIP 3.1 or AWS-CWI certification is mandatory. ASNT Level II certified in RT, UT, PT, and MT. NACE Level II or BGAS Grade 2 certification is an added advantage. ISO 9001:2015 QMS training certification is an added advantage.
