Job purpose:

Ensure a profitable growth of the Group Health portfolio through the timely preparation of competitive Group Health proposals for new business and renewals within the framework of company’s underwriting guidelines, policy, authority limits and procedures.


Department overview: Corporate Health & Life Pricing is the Regional Underwriting unit operating under the framework of Company’s underwriting philosophy, policy, authority limits and procedures.



Key responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and deliver customized and compliant Group Health proposals for New Business for Rest of Gulf countries (Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar)
  • Ensure that technical quotations are in line with Company's practices, underwriting guidelines & regulatory framework
  • Suggest alternative solutions which would enable the Client to design competitive solutions
  • Be market aware, understand the competitive environment and the Client’s needs
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in the law or the requirements of any regulatory body that may affect the conduct of the business; recommend changes as necessary
  • Cooperate with the Distribution team to develop a profitable and sustainable portfolio
  • Manage, as an owner or contributor, the project workstreams assigned by the manager



Operational & technical responsibilities

  • Manage the referral process of RFPs received from the Distribution team, according to the underwriting authorities received and underwriting guidelines, for local and multinational companies (e.g. pool/captive)
  • Adopt creative underwriting approaches to analyze and interpret financial data of companies and their performance
  • Examine any non-compliance of benefit adjudication and ensure compliance overall
  • Communicate and cooperate with Health Operational teams on policy administration elements
  • Ensure good customer relations when communicating both in writing and verbally, by phone or in person
  • Designing the table of benefits as per the requirements of the client/ broker for large corporates
  • In depth understanding of each benefit and its impact is essential



Role Requirements:


Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years in Group Health Underwriting
  • technical and analytical skills
  • high level of numeracy
  • good knowledge of Group Health insurance products, preferably in Oman, Bahrain and Qatar
  • advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
  • excellent communication skills



Desirable:

  • Experience in Sales
  • UAE experience would be an advantage
  • Actuarial experience
