College Profile
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) houses nine departments, covering a wide range of undergraduate specializations in the Arts and Sciences including English Literature & Linguistics and Arabic Languages, History, Sociology, Social Work, International Affairs, Mass Communication , Psychology , Policy, Planning & Development , Statistics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences. The College also houses Master Programs which are in Environmental Sciences, Gulf Studies, and Arabic Language. In Fall 2013, CAS launched a master program in Material Sciences and a PhD in Biological and Environmental Sciences. Additionally, the College offers a Program of Arabic for Non- Native Speakers.
It is worth mentioning that as members of QU, CAS faculty members have excellent opportunities to secure intramural and extramural funding for their research ideas. Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) is major source of research funding, with individual project funding limit exceeding 600,000 $/project along with student research funding programs. As the national and largest University in the country, Qatar University is the recipient of most of QNRF awards, with many research- active faculty members able to win multiple grants.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Accreditation Specialist oversees the student learning assessment and program learning outcomes in accordance with accreditation requirements and in support of institutional effectiveness.
- Work Closely with Departments to oversee Academic Self Study reports/Program Enhancement and new programs establishment.
- Monitor compliance of accredited programs with the relevant accrediting body assessment requirements and standards.
- Serve as a resource to faculty by providing workshops and training on accreditation initiatives.
- Carry out all the required accreditation tasks, in collaboration with academic departments at the college to successfully meet the standards of the relevant accreditation agencies.
- Seek, obtain and develop documents and evidence for compliance with accrediting agency standards as appropriate.
- Gather contents from various departments in CAS needed for the writing, editing, and managing of the accreditation documentation.
- Articulate accreditation policies and regulations to decision makers at the college, as well as to other relevant stakeholders as appropriate.
- Coordinate and follow up on Academic Programs' accreditation
- Organize, classify, and maintain program and accreditation related data, information, and documents for all programs and at all levels.
- Work in partnership with departments and programs to identify accreditation agencies and to prepare for specialized accreditation.
- Design and implement an academic accreditation framework
- Complete all reports and studies on time
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Organize own time and prioritizes actions to achieve organizational goals and meet deadlines
- Perform other tasks and duties that may be required in order to meet the college objectives.
- Any other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- A minimum MA or MSc. or higher degree from a well recognized university with relevant work experience
- At least three (3) years' experience in accreditation at university level
- Proficiency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
- Experience in regional and/or international accreditation processes.
- Experience with the forms and practices of accreditation.
- Data analysis (statistical) experience is required
