Product Manager - Cards

Role Objective


The Product Manager – Cards will be responsible for managing the retail cards product portfolio, throughout the product lifecycle, from planning to execution in support of the functional / corporate strategies and objectives. The incumbent will manage cross-functional product development and management efforts of value-added products and services for the retail customer segment, in line with the regulatory guidelines, and internal policies. The job holder will work closely with the internal stakeholders and industry partners (as applicable) in monitoring market trends/ competitive products, analyzing product coverage / sales efforts, revenue projections, precise product positioning and delivery of marketing initiatives.


Roles and Responsibilities


  • Contribute towards the formulation, and implementation of the overall client segmentation strategy, annual business plans, policies and procedures with respect to the Retail Cards client segment, to support the overall functional and organizational business strategy.
  • Ensure that the business plans are within agreed budgets and timescales. Provide timely, accurate and complete progress reports to the Section Head - Products and Analytics
  • Identify and promote continuous engagement or alliances with channel partners / business partnerships to complement consistent growth or develop opportunities of retail Cards products in existing /new markets.
  • Capitalize on digital infrastructure and technology-driven capabilities within the retail Cards product segment to support sales enhancement efforts.
  • Liaise with the IT department and other relevant stakeholders, for regular testing of systems to ensure operational efficiency/ release of new standards or system installations/integrations or upgrades.
  • Monitor and report on product performance after incorporation of additional features / modification of features as a continuous improvement effort.
  • Perform the research & analysis efforts, furthering the identification, and analysis of current / target marketplace, tendencies and competitors in terms of retail Card products.
  • Work closely with the BUs in initiating / conducting surveys and customer/prospect visits to ascertain requirements, and gaps in the respective market segments within the retail liabilities market.
  • Liaise with the BIU/ BUs to formulate business plans for timely delivery of product development, enhancements and/or cost reductions based on business / product performance, and market trends, changing customer requirements and corporate objectives.
  • Prepare business case/ proposals for new product development, including but not limited to consumer research, budget, and costing calculations, and time lines etc.
  • Coordinate and, contribute towards the formulation and management of pricing models, and setting of special pricing/ competitive pricing quotes for retail Cards products, to support sales efforts.
  • Deliver product specific data on cash flow aspects, including but not limited to working capital, positive cash flow projections and cost and risks of funding sources.
  • Enhance the existing products within the retail Card products portfolio by creating incremental value-added features through competitive pricing, convenience and availability.
  • Work closely with the Marketing section in identification, and delivery of marketing content and programs, in support of the retail Card product positioning and corporate marketing strategies.
  • Evaluate promotional plans in close coordination with the marketing section, to ensure consistency of the proposed communication / marketing content against the retail Cards product line strategy.
  • Contribute towards the implementation of efficient customer retention / anti-attrition strategies, in support of the sales efforts across different channels/ regions.
  • Liaise with the operational functions/ Quality Assurance section to ensure that the operational framework is working effectively in line with customer requirements and expectations, thus minimizing client complaints, and maximizing customer satisfaction.


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Banking, Finance, and/or any other related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience
  • Experience in product management / product development role with a strong understanding of the local/global banking industry.
  • Experience in managing teams.
  • Significant experience in project and product management techniques and best practices.
