The HV Electrical Distribution Technician Supervisor shall be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the electrical distribution and electrical power distribution systems. The Supervisor shall lead a team to ensure high quality work is performed to install, operate, repair, replace, modify, test, and troubleshoot all new and existing government owned electrical equipment in accordance with the performance work statement. This includes light carts, package substations, transformers, switchgears, expeditionary electrical equipment, electrical panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near all installation buildings and structures.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible managing resources and activities devoted to installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power systems.
  • Shall lead projects, supervise, manage, and provide on the job training to other personnel as required to ensure a safe work environment at all times.
  • Shall develop work procedures and work scheduling to ensure efficient use of resources and required coverage to meet PWS requirements.
  • Performs and trains personnel according to standard operating procedures and participates in all related process action/process improvement actions.
  • Shall provide reports and documents pertaining to electrical systems in accordance with the performance work statement.
  • Shall install or repair any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning circuits and equipment and inspect for defective equipment and faulty wiring.
  • Shall work from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
  • Shall perform facility management duties for substations.
  • Responsible for following a comprehensive safety program in compliance with Vectrus, OSHA and United States Air Force (USAF) requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas.
  • Responsible for following a comprehensive, flexible, and properly documented training program.
  • Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all government and contractor provided property (e.g., to include government facilities, equipment and tools).
  • Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Shall have a minimum of ten years high and, medium voltage experience that must be verified by the hiring manager as a condition of employment and shall have completed an approved DOD or commercial equivalent school or apprenticeship in the subject.
  • Must pass Controlled Movement Area flight line driving test upon arrival to site.
  • Must have and maintain a valid U. S. SECRET or Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to deployment.
  • Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include psychological, medical, dental, drug testing and background checks.
  • Must successfully complete hands-on CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defense training.
  • Training includes the successful fit testing of DOD provided protective gear.

Experience:

  • Shall have a minimum of ten (10) years of related work experience.
  • Shall have knowledge of: Principles of electronics and electricity including generation, conversion, transformation, distribution, and utilization; types, capacity, and purpose of low/medium voltage circuits, circuit breakers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays, instruments, and meters associated with electric generation and distribution; interpreting instrument and meter readings; wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings and technical publications; techniques of operating distribution panels, and accessory equipment; use and purpose of test equipment; safety rules and practices; grounding practices, lighting protection, cathodic protection, environmental policies; principles of management; and operation and repair of electrical systems.
  • Shall have experience with operating and maintaining systems ranging from 24 volts to 4160 volts.
