Responsible for carrying out technical and functional responsibilities related to health, safety, and environmental issues in the plant; supervising the safety function; and ensuring that Company safety policies, procedures, and methods are followed.
Areas of responsibility
Relationship Management
- Works closely with other departments and facilities on special projects involving plant construction, equipment design, and hazardous assessments.
- Provide information to management about recommendations for process improvements and decision proposals
- Encourage employees to participate in safety initiatives;
Strategy and Development
- Support Company management in setting HSE objectives
- Develop and implement safety procedures and/or desired safe behaviors in Standard Work Instruction (SWI) or equivalent, for operations in order to minimize hazards.
General Task and Management
- Ensure and monitor compliance for all governing safety regulations and standards;
- Implement compliance audit/s to validate conformity; Report Golden Rules compliance to Group QHSE Department upon request.
- Identify and encourage others to identify, any potential safety hazards (conditional and behavioral). Apply appropriate internal resources and safety tolls as needed to mitigate hazards; Ensure risk assessments are quickly preformed. Document and assign corrective actions for mitigations not able to be immediately implemented; Elevate to the management when high or very high risks are identified and/or external resources or funding is required.
- Knowledge of Near Miss Incidents, First Aid Injury, Job Safety Analysis, Risk Assessment etc.
- Being present at site wherever high-risk activity is carried out and advise the contractor as per requirement.
- Foster safety awareness in all workers and supervisors.
- Investigate further improvement in existing safe working methods.
- Investigate and advise on any legal requirements affecting HSE & Welfare.
- Follows regulatory controls on the installations (noise level measurement, spillage control, etc.)
- Ensure provision and use of protective clothing and equipment and its use.
- Follows the stake in conformity of equipment (fire safety equipment, forklifts, cranes etc.) check
- Ensure adequate supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is freely available to employees. Ensure first aid supplies are available to appropriate personnel.
- Report promptly LTI / MTI and seious NM incidents into AMS; Complete and update the 8D reports in AMS in accordance to the standard
- Prepare site HSE reports.
- Participates in daily SQDCE meetings
- Alerts on all risky situations detected.
- Support the deployment and maintenance of 5S in the Plant
