Job Description

Job Overview:

The Civil Superintendent will work closely with the Subcontractors on-site Civil Superintendent to coordinate and supervision the daily work planning and oversight. Civil Superintendent will need to understand the Permit To Work (PTW) system and processes associated with work excavating and Shoring multiple trenches for the installation of a 32” pipeline being installed in an existing operating facility, normal civil foundation and concrete work, along with oversight of small building construction and installation is required. Understanding of grading and leveling in the installation of access roads, Right of Ways (ROW) is also required.

The Civil Superintendent should have a complete understanding of moving and handling large excavation equipment to remove and install excavated spoils and install fill material for bedding and material to backfill trenches to grade. Civil Superintendent will also work closely with other Discipline Superintendents to meet or exceeding schedule and budget expectations. The candidate will ensure all Civil installations are performed safely and efficiently in accordance with design drawings, specifications, and relevant codes. Attend site safety meetings, plan work, manage resources and coordinate deliveries of materials.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate and lead a construction HSSE culture that makes safety and environmental awareness a natural part of the job
  • Work closely with Subcontractor to Identify labor needs and requirements
  • Plans required work activities to ensure that design drawings, tools, equipment, and materials are available
  • Ensure day to day items, including materials, supplies, tools and equipment are available
  • Minimize potential HR issues in day to day contact with Field Personnel
  • Develop a strong working relationship with the Subcontractors Civil team
  • Enforce company policies, project rules, and employee discipline
  • Manage and coordinate Civil craft and Subcontractor activities
  • Coordinates the work activities of all involved crafts
  • Ensures that subordinates are knowledgeable of applicable specifications, codes and work procedures
  • Supervises all construction-related work activities and assigned field functions and/or crafts involved within a discipline on the project
  • Performs work in conformance with plans, specifications, schedules, and cost control estimates
  • Monitor performance of subordinate supervisors, setting expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and schedule
  • Controls change/scope creep, ensuring that all scope changes are quickly and properly documented, and that change orders are approved prior to the performance of work
  • Review the contractual commitments of contractors including cost, quality, and schedule and verifies their field activities
  • Maintain quality of all work in accordance with the standard as in the design documents
  • Civil Superintendent will report to the General Field Superintendent or Construction Manager
  • Ensure that the National Content Plan is followed by all parties (McDermott and Subcontractors)
  • Managing the training and advancement of local employees and ensuring that knowledge of the company’s policies and procedures are included
  • Civil Superintendent will need to understand the RLIC / QG / QE Permit to Work System (PTW)
  • Organization and direction of construction activities, ensure compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards
  • Ensure compliance with all Project Design Documentation, with Company Standards and Procedures, and with applicable international Codes, Standards and Practices
  • Liaison with Construction Manager to monitor progress and prepare performance reports

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • 10 or more years of relevant experience and recognized expertise in large international onshore/offshore oil and gas projects with at least 5 years of supervisory experience
  • High focus on safely and familiarity with planning & scheduling systems
  • Working knowledge of shutdown, maintenance, and startup of industrial facilities
  • Must have 10 years of civil construction experience, a minimum of 5 years in a Superintendent role
  • Ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years work experience in RLIC
  • Candidate should have a valid PTW – 1 certification, RLIC HSE training and H2S training
  • Strong communication skills, fluent spoken and written English

Project / Area / Regional Specifics:

  • Working environment is in Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC).
  • Normal workday will be 10 hrs and a 6-day workweek
  • Workforce is multicultural and demands considerable experience in the project process working with International Clients and Contractors
