Position Overview:

The IT Network Technician will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support for network and IP Telephony issues, managing and documenting network copper and fiber cabling infrastructure, and ensuring smooth operations of IT systems. The technician will work in-house to support the passive cabling (copper and fiber) within the Data Center, IDF rooms, and user desktops across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Maintenance:

• Install, maintain, and document passive cabling infrastructure (copper and fiber) in the Data Center, Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) rooms, and user desktops.
• Comply with industry standards for passive cabling.
• Perform CAT 6 crimping and fiber splicing.
• Manage and update cabling within Data Center and IDF rooms with proper labeling and documentation.

Hardware and Software Support:

• Install, connect, and troubleshoot hardware and software, including switches, routers, servers, PCs, IP phones, printers, and other peripherals.
• Ensure the smooth operation of servers, networks, and other IT systems.
• Troubleshoot Layer 1 network connectivity issues.

System Monitoring and Performance:

• Monitor system performance and address any issues to maintain optimal functionality.
• Maintain records/logs of repairs, fixes, and maintenance schedules.
• Identify equipment shortages and report to the concerned authority.

Inventory Management:

• Maintain an inventory of IT assets, including switches, routers, IPTV setup boxes, IP phones, and other infrastructure components.
• Respond to project needs that require the installation of servers, setting up test environments, or modifying existing equipment configurations.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Communicate effectively in English; proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Diploma in Information Technology (IT) or a related field.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional, CCNA) are a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as an IT Network Technician or in a similar role.
• Solid understanding of computer systems, networks, and infrastructure.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
• Knowledge of IT security principles and best practices.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, WAN, LAN technologies, system performance tools, VLANs, VPNs, routers, switches, and network monitoring tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Visio).
• Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, IT rack layouts, and troubleshooting guides.
• Must possess good knowledge of UPS systems, including DC UPS.
• Valid Qatar driving license required.
