Project Manager - Strategy

Role Objective

The Project Manager will assist the Section Head – Strategic PMO in effective management of the Strategic PMO section of the bank. The incumbent will assist in the planning, and execution of bank-wide strategic / operational projects in line with the project objectives, approved quality standards, and time/ budget specification, and other internal guidelines/ best practices. The incumbent will define project scope / deliverables in coordination with the functional units and management, and will manage project dependencies, track project milestones and deliverables and resolve key project issues. The job holder will support employees within the section in efficient operations of day-to-day tasks in accordance with internal guidelines.


Detailed Roles and Responsibilities

• Assist the Section Head – Strategic PMO in the design, growth and transmission of project management philosophy throughout the bank-wide functions.

• Support in the development, consistent implementation, and maintenance of Bank-wide project control tools, methods, and processes.

• Ensure that all strategic / operational projects have clear defined time bound objectives with quantifiable indicators, in line with the corporate objectives.

• Identify project problem/issue and, update the Section Head / management on critical issues confronting strategic / operational projects and suggest action plans for mitigation.

• Keep abreast of, and suggest on incorporation up-to-date project management techniques and industry best practices and tools to the bank-wide projects, as applicable.

• Liaise with the Change Management team in identification of possible difficulties, and in developing exigency plans for proactive management of amendments within the project scope of work.

• Perform pro-active identification of project related system / process interrelationships (across functions) for setting priority decisions.

• Assist in the establishment of a system for managing financial aspects of the project, including budget formulation, cost projections, cost reporting, and variances.

• Perform periodical review/ monitoring/ reporting of projects within the assigned portfolio, including but not limited to project indicators, program progress, resource constrictions, timeline adherence etc.

• Identify and promptly communicate schedule conflicts, resource limitations, and time restraints to the project team from different functions, to ensure timely resolution of the same.

• Monitor to ensure strategic alignment / integration of the projects with corporate objectives.

• Monitor to ensure alignment of the procedural / process aspects with the business objectives of projects.

• Work closely with the respective functional units to identify necessary project process improvements and in effecting changes, as applicable.

• Liaise with the functional units in project planning, implementation and monitoring efforts with respect to the bank-wide projects.

• Prepare vital communications/ dashboard for the management and other relevant stakeholders, including but not limited to requirements documentation and project presentations, project analysis, resource utilization forecasts/ allocation, budget/ status reports, etc.


Qualification & Experience Required

• University graduate with a degree in Business or Banking or Finance or any other related discipline.

• Master’s degree in Management any other related discipline will be an added advantage.

• Minimum 10 years of experience is required.

• Extensive experience in the management of medium - large projects in banking industry.

• Proven capacity in leading strategic / operational project planning and management.
