Head of Contracts and Claims Management – JD

  • Job Specification & Key Accountabilities (Duties include but not limited to) Refer to general accountability below:Responsible for preparing and delivering the contractual and commercial management resolutions for the EPC Contract.
  • Provide support to the EPC Business Division Manager and Project Management for the preparation, negotiation and finalization of change orders, including disputed commercial settlements.
  • Provide support to the EPC Business Division Manager and Project Manager for the preparation and execution of commercial initiatives associated with the Schedule Delivery Assurance Plan.
  • Daily and weekly interface and coordination with the Project Onshore Business Management (Shared Resources) Claims and Contract Management team.
  • Support implementation of the Claims Avoidance and Management Procedure along with associated commercial management processes.
  • Coordinate the preparation, development and stewardship of Commercial Plans for the EPC Project.
  • Works on transverse basis with EPC Head of Contracts to identify the potential claims or disputed change requests by EPC Contractor and develop proposals for handling such claims or disputed change requests resolution.
  • Responsible for providing contractual, commercial and functional direction to the EPC Project Management Leadership Team related to all aspects of contracting including the management of the EPC Contracts filing, reporting, shared drives and PMCS workflows.
  • Able to quicky integrate into a mature, execution phase Project Management Team and organization.
  • Understand key major and complex Projects drivers and context and provide credible and practical contractual and commercial strategies and plans in a complex contractual environment.
  • Ensuring Project’s ability to avoid claims and disputed change requests or change orders and to the extent they occur, be ready to proactively manage them and bring solutions to the Senior management.
  • Managing contractual and commercial performance by anticipating issues, avoiding situations that impact the Project adversely where EPC Contractor may adopt a cash conservation approach.
  • Able to work in a highly visible Project environment with large capital expenditures and significant schedule execution pressures, as well as within a dynamic team that has high expectations for flawless Project execution and delivery with SHES, quality, cost and schedule performance, requiring the incumbent to demonstrate strong experience, accuracy, initiative, capacity to take workload and the ability to multi-task as essential skills.


Skills

  • Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in business, Law or Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in major and complex projects environment within the oil and gas industry and large LNG Projects, with proven exposure to business and risk management including project controls, costs and schedule development and contract management.
  • A minimum of 5 years supervising multi-discipline and multi-cultural teams and as Head of Claims Management and Contracts (or parent company equivalent) of large, high-CAPEX and complex Projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Strong planning, organisational and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer literacy skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
